  • Arrested Expansion is a symbolic scene that depicts a combination of self-excluding objects that might not be present in real life. Objects in the secluded room make the viewer feel claustrophobic and unreal, which might be compared to someone’s mental delusion based on a medical condition. Image is a mixture of photo stock with some 2D vectors, and 3D objects. Photoshop, 3ds max, Illustrator. / The most common cause of cardiac arrest is a heart rhythm disorder or arrhythmia called ventricular fibrillation (VF). The heart has a built-in electrical system. When a contraction happens, blood is pumped. But in ventricular fibrillation, the electrical signals that control the pumping of the heart suddenly become rapid and chaotic. As a result, the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, begin to quiver (fibrillate) instead of contract, and they can no longer pump blood from the heart to the rest of the body. If blood cannot flow to the brain, it becomes starved of oxygen, and the person loses consciousness in seconds. • Imagine the sunrises, sunsets, storms, and sunny days this water tower has seen in all its years. This day was not a particuarly memorable day in its history, but it will be remembered it as it appeared through the lens of an antique camera and now captured forever in this digital medium. The Clack produces only 8 negatives on a roll of 120 film. This forces the photographer to slow down and carefully compose each shot. This slowing down of time is exactly what is being portrayed in this photograph. The colors and clouds bleed into the background, highlighting how little has changed in this scene over time. Created using a 1950’s AGFA Clack camera with 4 year expired Fuji Velvia RVP120 (ISO 50) slide film cross processed with C-41. No digital manipulation necessary! This image is in Redbubble’s featured gallery . (c) Paul Lavallee 2007 /

  • A timeless scene captured in the wonders of dr5 black and white film processing. The Scituate Reservoir is the largest body of fresh water in Rhode Island. The road over the dam that keeps the water within the reservoir has some of the most beautiful views in inland Rhode Island. This historic look was acheived by aiming an antique AGFA Clack camera directly into the sun. No digital manipulation was employed. (c) Paul Lavallee 2007 /

  • This little gem can be found just around the corner from Loch Ard Gorge near Port Campbell off Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Australia. I came here the afternoon before and there were snap happy tourists everywhere but decided to come back the next morning and there wasn’t a soul in sight, just the crashing ocean to keep me company… Unfortunately as of early June 2009 this archway has collapsed leaving two apostles next to eachother. • You know how it goes! Got here around sunset just as a bus load full of overseas tourists rocked up so we quickly ran and found a spot so they wouldn’t get in the way. • This is one of the reasons why “Covered Bridges” were originally built, not only to span the waterway below, but also to serve as a safe haven for travelers in a storm! When I arrived here this afternoon, I was only able to grab three shots… before the skies opened up with the fury of a very powerful thunderstorm! (In the last three weeks, this exact same thing has happened each time I ventured out to photograph a bridge! Go figure that!) I was hoping to catch a bolt of lightning in the shot, but that didn’t happen. You are viewing the Moreland / Fraser Covered Bridge, which is located near Lairdsville, Pennsylvania. It is of the finest examples of the true Pennsylvania covered bridge. This example is as “authentic” as they come! The Morland Bridge was built in 1888, spanning Muncy Creek in Moreland Township. It is also know locally as The Fraser Covered Bridge. The structure still has all of its original timbers, in a classic “Burr Arch” design. This bridge is officially listed on the US National Historical Register and has been beautifully maintained by the Lycoming County Commissioners. Interior View and Construction Details of the Bridge A Canon EOS 10D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens was used. The lens was set to its widest focal length of 17mm. The camera’s shutter speed was 1/90th sec at f/4. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. This photograph was taken “hand-held” and is “straight from the camera” with no processing or alterations. • Wawatam Lighthouse at the entrance to the Marina in St. Ignace in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It stands at the end of an old railroad dock which was once used to load railroad cars onto a ferry to transport them between the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan. The city of St. Ignace has renamed he lighthouse after the 338-foot Chief Wawatam rail car ferry. It rises 52 feet in the air at the end of a newly constructed Huron Boardwalk and serves as a sentinel to the city’s marina. The beacon projects 13.2 miles over Lake Huron and will serve as a navigational aid to boaters. This lighthouse was acquired from the Monroe Michigan Welcome Center in 2004, was moved to St. Ignace in five sections, and went operational on August 20th, 2006.
