The ghost town of Crystal is a huge attraction for photographers in Colorado making the remains of the old mill the most photographed spot in the state. The water is a beautiful color of emerald green. It is well worth the four-wheel trip up the mountain to see it. Just don’t look out your window and look down. It’ll get your heart racing!
The mission in Monterey, California, is just gorgeous. The white wash walls, the pink-orange rock, the vividly colored flowers, and the bell in the tower are so impressive. In the fall along the coast of California, the early morning clouds are not an issue, and in the early morning hours the sky is so blue it is breathtaking. The day I was there an art class was scattered around the courtyard painting at their easels. Artists sitting under their large-brimmed hats were creating their masterpieces. It was quite a sight. There I was among them painting with light, because, after all, photographers who create art do that.

gilmore gas was once the largest distributor of gasoline in the western united states, now part of a larger oil company…it started at the corner of fairfax and third in los angeles, just a few blocks off route 66…and when I say started, they were actually drilling for oil at that location…today the location houses the bustling and famous farmers market, a great place to eat and watch the world go by…be sure to check out a very cool restored gilmore gas station…

A PERSPECTIVE ABOUT OLD BARNS / He said,” you couldn’t get paint that beautiful”, for a new country home he’s building down the road. Only years of standing in the weather, bearing the storms and scorching sun, only that can produce beautiful barn wood. / It came to me then. We’re a lot like that, you and I. / Only it’s on the inside that the beauty grows with us. / Sure we turn silver gray too… and lean a bit more than we did when we were young and full of sap. / But the Good Lord knows what He’s doing. / And as the years pass He’s busy using the hard weather of our lives, / The dry spells and the stormy seasons do a job of beautifying our souls that nothing else can produce. / And to think how often folks holler because they want life easy!

Evesham, Worcestershire, April 1999. Kind of an ironic sign on the lamp post. Taken during a return trip to the Old Country after a 33 year absence. I’m still looking and if I can find any history on this pub, I’ll add it.
