In Hilo on the big Island of Hawaii just across the street from a hospital is this banyan tree in a grove of very large banyan trees. This was taken with a tripod as it was dark underneath the canopy of leaves.

These amazing trees are prolific in the Hawaiian Islands. I captured this forest near Hilo on the Big Island. I used an HDR plug-in to enhance their beauty.

There is a park in downtown Hilo that has many small and large lagoons in it. In order to wander about you must cross several bridges. All of them are the same. Decorative and elegant, they have the appearance and feel of being wavy although they are solid. Here are two of them, very close together. The farthest away is seen through an arch of the closer one. Between them is a small island in the lagoon which they connect to the shores on either side.

Hilo Lagoon
by noffiThe beaches near Hilo, Hawaii are varied and beautiful. The lava lagoons that ring many of them provide safe areas ,especaially for children, to play in the water. Even on cloudy stormy days the scenery is compelling. Best viewed large
