Australia
January 1st 2007 and here I am sitting on the edge of a newly birthed inland low. Mother Nature thought this “baby” was worth celebrating and delivered the best lightning show I have yet seen. / hillsrain
Winter on the slopes of the Eastern Mt Lofty Ranges brings precious rain to an otherwise dry landscape and is celebrated with a spectacular double rainbow.
This old horse soaks up a misty morning Adelaide Hills Morning
A lone Mallee in a sea of Barley looks on at a multicoloured pastel sky.
A hot day, instability, updraughts and out goes the anvil! A spectacular thunderstorm over Murray Bridge during the ‘05 storm season.
The morning sun wakes up a sleepy, foggy hillside. A perfect start to the day. / Bull Creek Ranges
The Australian High Country in the early morning light and mists fades to the horizon. As viewed from the top of Mt Buffalo. Taken with an old cheap 3 mp fuji digicam, Its not about the camera…..

Storms over Spring Mount flash through the Victor Harbor Skyline on South Australia’s South Coast.
New Years Eve and the heavens turn electric, raining lightning like staccato waterfalls. An awesome display of power thrown about with ease by the world around us.
Fibrous fingers of light streak earthwards, but only the strongest makes it. Another of the new years eve display of power from the lightning capital of Australia.
A lone Gum, leaning and gnarled with a lifelong fight against the wind. Yet still it stands.

Is it us spinning or the heavens above? A 30 minute exposure of the night sky and the southern celestial pole.
Suki, the new shiba puppy. Tough, well not so tough! / Digitals are so damned clean, I had to add some noise for texture to this pic. Don’t you just love shallow DOF.
The wonderment of a baby’s vision. Everything is shiny and new, seen for the first time
Natures own electricity recharges Mother Earth… Actually a bit of a cheat image. One of my best lightning captures had one of the most boring foregrounds. This pic is a combination of a night time shot of Encounter Bay , Victor Harbor and one of the best 10 second captures of my life! Is it cheating? To be fair I have seen this over this spot, just without a camera at hand.. LOL
The original image that the picture thor’s finger was cropped from. Uploaded as suggested by Michael Bermingham.
I’ve been good all year Santa – I promise! And this is my first Christmas Santa, I already have my 2 front teeth, can I walk now Santa?
Evening perfection, diamond cut clarity, soft greens, yellows reds and that perfect 5 minutes of sunlight. Magic. / Taken near Meadows.
A classic Mallee thunderstorm viewed from afar as it traces its path across the landscape … The stars trail above silently..
Quiet, calm night then boom! Out of the top of the thunderstorm streams a big positive strike – shooting first upwards the pull of the earth wins and it slams down with incredible power. The most dangerous of lightning.
The precursor to an evening of perfection. And one rather focussed dog on a fox down the paddock! Taken in the Bull Creek Ranges near Meadows.
Early Morning. Rain has fallen and the road and landscape is a glow in the spot of a shaft of sunlight. / The Bull Creek Valley near Meadows. Part of my view on the way to work each morning.
