  • Through a beautiful sculpted Hindu archway, I gaze over the Aravalli Hills that litter the Rajasthani landscape. The hills stretch approximately 560 km from northeast to southwest Rajasthan, and then continue as isolated hills and ridges into the state of Haryana (formerly part of the state of Punjab) and near Delhi. The highest point is on Mt Abu, and is known as Guru Shikar. It rises 5653 feet (1.72 km). The hill range is further divided into the Sambhar-Sirohi and the Sambhar-Khetri ranges. The peaks of the Aravalli Hills are famous for their white peaks, formed not by snow, but by large masses of rose coloured quartz. / __ Dedicated to Marnie Kaur Sidhu, a friend who helped me through picking a new domain/flickr name (and helped me name a business in the past) :) / : at Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

  • A young, very photogenic hill-tribe girl in Sapa, Vietnam.

  • A little girl and her day-to-day chore of collecting sticks and wood. I presume to be used for fire wood. This scene was captured about 1km walk from the mountain town of Sapa in northern Vietnam.

  • Eilean Donan Castle one of the Iconic Scottish Castles was just a magic place to visit and photograph. I spent close to 9 hours taking in the surrounds, the atmosphere and the serenity and of course the odd photo or two. Here is one of my favourites, I really like the balance of light and the reflections. This was the 3rd last photo I took during this 9 hour period, and goes to show that patience can pay off. All money raised with the sale of my works until November goes towards the Steven T. Hill Stroke Foundation. Your time with them goes so fast you are left just wanting more… / / / Unfortunately, Mountain Gorilla numbers are small, with only approximately 700 left in the wild. The primary threat comes from forest clearance and degradation, as the region’s growing human population struggles to eke out a living. / / I am hopeful ways can be found to control these problems before it is too late. / / (Virunga volcanoes – Rwanda) / >< / / / / / / / / /

  • Joshua Tree National Park, California. This huge rock has been hollowed out by erosion and has two holes through it. Native Americans left many petroglyphs inside.

  • The painting is based on a photo I took on Dartmoor a few years ago. The light was fantastic and I’ve expanded on that to create this vibrant landscape.

  • With my brand new travel set of ‘brilliant’ watercolours, I experimented using a very quick wet on wet wash to capture an impression of a glorious pink sunset flung over the hills and reflected in the river.

  • A Conversation With the Clouds Captured at an elevation of 11,990 ft (3,655 m), standing atop Loveland Pass is like being able to touch heaven and the clouds. When I captured this, the slight hint of the scent of snow was in the air, and conditions up here can change literally by the second. It is right along the Continental Divide, and the views from up here are simply paradise! Processed in HDR and captured on my Minolta 5D using a Minolta 18-200 DT Lens and a Hoya Polarizer http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/5778657

Mostly though, it will be so cold and windy that you will will not want to stay too long !! It is a very wild and remote area, so incredibly beautiful. Polariser fitted, ( to slow the shutter for more blur) / f23, three shot hdr (-2EV , +2EV and 0EV …..from a minus 1 stop underexposure reading 0f f23, 1/15 sec. on Aperture priority ) iso 100, Auto wb, RAW files converted in Photomatix and Adobe CS3. / Finished with a little Orton.
