  • Well here is my first Infrared image, well sort of, i got a Hoya R72 filter for Christmas and since having it it has not stopped raining, well at least on the days when i have been able to go out shooting, so i took this of the Winnats pass in the peak district but the sky was just grey cloud so i played in photoshop and added a better sky but in colour. Let me know what you think? i am waiting for a good clear day to try it out properly.

  • early one morning in townsend, the fog was good and thick, so went driving around on some of our back roads, this is the gem i found :)

  • This painting is watercolour on paper. I did this in response to a call for entries for an exhibition titled “Outback to Hill End” at the Royal Art Society, Sydney. We went, over Easter, to Hill End itself. It’s an old prospecting town, over the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. / We stayed two days, taking lots of photos and this painting came from a “gift”. The sun had dropped down low and the clouds were banked up in the East. Click! one moment and I had got it! And the next moment, the magic was gone. The sun went behind more clouds. In fact it was cloudy most of the time we were there and was disappointing in that way, because I love to paint the contrast of sun and shadow. But there was just enough sun to satisfy me, mostly morning and evening, and I may paint some more of this fascinating area. And…..............hardly a spot of water to be seen. Mind you, I did go down to the river where they used to pan for gold and got some shots in. Nothing I fancy painting yet though. Interestingly, there are now four exploratory mines there and it looks like they will be operational in the future, still plenty of gold there. Thank you once again for all the kind comments, faves and watches. See more of Freda’s works: / Boats / City / Fractals / Stillife / Figures / Landscape Freda’s website

  • In summer the Glen is very lush and green and has great romantic appeal.

  • This is a second upload of the original image – “The Lost One”, with a signature added to the image at the request of a very dear friend. As soon as I came across this lone lamb, I was reminded of the old hymn by Ira Sankey, based on Matthew 18:13…. The Ninety and Nine. There were ninety and nine that safely lay / In the shelter of the fold. / But one was out on the hills away, / Far off from the gates of gold. / Away on the mountains wild and bare. / Away from the tender Shepherd’s care. / Away from the tender Shepherd’s care. “Lord, Thou hast here Thy ninety and nine; / Are they not enough for Thee?” / But the Shepherd made answer: “This of Mine / Has wandered away from Me; / And although the road be rough and steep, / I go to the desert to find My sheep, / I go to the desert to find My sheep.” But none of the ransomed ever knew / How deep were the waters crossed; / Nor how dark was the night the Lord passed through / Ere He found His sheep that was lost. / Out in the desert He heard its cry, / Sick and helpless and ready to die; / Sick and helpless and ready to die. “Lord, whence are those blood drops all the way / That mark out the mountain’s track?” / “They were shed for one who had gone astray / Ere the Shepherd could bring him back.” / “Lord, whence are Thy hands so rent and torn?” / “They are pierced tonight by many a thorn; / They are pierced tonight by many a thorn.” And all through the mountains, thunder riven / And up from the rocky steep, / There arose a glad cry to the gate of Heaven, / “Rejoice! I have found My sheep!” / And the angels echoed around the throne, / “Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own! / Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own!”

  • Taken on the road to Inversnaid on Loch Lomond where it runs past little Loch Arklet and you get this wonderful view of the Arochar Alps … maybe someone can give me the names of these hills. Kenart has just told me that the mountains are Ben Arthur, Ben Ime and Ben Vain.

  • Stanley, North West Tasmania.

  • Came across this abandoned field and an old footprint of a house at the end of this private road on Saturday, September 27th 2008, in Rigaud, Quebec Canada. Despite the weather being overcast and rainy, I could not pass it by, I was attracted by the yellow. A friend tells me it is buckwheat. / I walked the property and kept thinking, a house once stood upon this very spot, looking over the valley and to the hills beyond. People once lived here…and had dreams, dreams now long forgotten… Featured in the Country Roads/Around the World group February 2009
