The Alexandra Suspension Bridge, at the First Basin, within the Cataract Gorge Reserve in Launceston. This is the re-built version, after being washed away in the devastating floods of 1929.

This was taken at Leigh Park Gardens, a beautiful place that I didn’t know existed a few minutes drive away from my home. I discoverd it about 12 months ago. It’s a great place for a good walk out and some great photo opportunities. It has a hill, trees, 3 or 4 foliies, a large lake and a couple of islands, one of which I had to cross this bridge to get to. This was taken last autumn and I love the reflection.

another local lighthouse shot…this one is straight blackandwhite though… since I found out what time the lights get switched of on this lovely gothic old lighthouse…..(5.30 am)....... I’ve been determined to catch it in it’s very best light when it’s still wrapped in darkness but has opened itself up to the light….. this was shot from the carpark on the southern side of the lighthouse and I’ve used the headlights of my car to illuminate the council works doors in the side of the embankment….. the lighting in this actually reminds me of a hobbit house….. a lighthouse as stylish as this one would have to have some sort of hobbit totem spirit hanging around….

South Pine River / Location: Bald Hills, Queensland, Australia. / Date: 20th May 2009. The South Pine River, as seen from Bald Hills, following rain falls that caused flooding in Brisbane and surrounding areas. / A break in the tumultuous clouds appeared late in the afternoon, which signaled the end of a downpour, that was later reported to have caused the worst flooding for Brisbane in more than 20 years. This scene appeared beautiful and surreal, in contrast to the destruction and disruption that was visible and continuing throughout the surrounding areas. During normal weather conditions, the South Pine River is not easily visible from the location this photo was taken. Luib is a very small township passed on the main road from Broadford to Portree, on the beautiful Isle of Skye. It sits in a wonderful position at the head of the Loch, surrounded by the Hills, with a magnificent waterfall not far up the road. / Timing is difficult with this scene, ..first the light has to be ‘right’, plus you have to be there when the tide is in, AND it has to be a calm day..not so easy on this Hebridean Island, LOL !! / I got this in New Year 2009, when we had just one week of proper old fashioned Winter !
