  • Eilean Donan Castle one of the Iconic Scottish Castles was just a magic place to visit and photograph. I spent close to 9 hours taking in the surrounds, the atmosphere and the serenity and of course the odd photo or two. Here is one of my favourites, I really like the balance of light and the reflections. This was the 3rd last photo I took during this 9 hour period, and goes to show that patience can pay off. All money raised with the sale of my works until November goes towards the Steven T. Hill Stroke Foundation. • Barker Lake in Joshua Tree National Park, California.

  • Taken at Crown Hill Park in Lakewood, Colorado. This my usual dog-walking park and more recently my coyote-photography park. it’s a pretty unassuming little place, but when the light is just right it can be spectacular. Crown Hill Park / Lakewood, CO / Sony Alpha700 / Sigma 17-35 / Adorama tripod & ballhead / ISO200, 1/80sec. f/7.1

  • Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Ettrick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (There is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) My first ever feature on the home page ages on 23rd April 2008 and what a party that was…LOL See also : ‘i am a rock’ and ‘LoL’ loch of the lowes

  • Another view of Loch of the Lowes which lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. • A rock’s eye view of the loch of lowes – I think this has a certain messy charm compared with the more pristine perfection of ‘loch of the lowes’ or ‘LoL’ Let me know what you think – comments and tips most welcome Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. • This was taken at a dam in Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills, Australia in winter at dawn. We don’t get any snow in Adelaide, as our summers are very hot. There is still some fog around on the water. This is pure bliss to me. This was taken with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera, on a tripod. This was taken because of the mood created with the fog, the winter sunlight lighting up the boat and the 3 waterfowl swimming in the opposite direction to the boat.

  • ..I’m like a kid with a new toy!!! Misty morning with the added “flood”.....

  • This is my second attempt at HDR photography. This was taken at Oakbank, in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, Australia, overlooking Appletree Cottage and the dam there. Late autumn and late afternoon. This was taken with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera.

  • These autumn colours and reflections were taken at Oakbank, Adelaide Hills, South Australia, Australia, in autumn (obviously). I used a Canon DSLR EOS 350D on a tripod. This is an HDR shot. I used 3 shots merged together with Photomatix Pro. This was details enhanced.

  • Acrylic On Canvas Concept: Ophelia having some solitude, she’s meditating on what love is all about…love between lovers, between friends, between parents and children, between teacher and students, between owners and their pets and etc….the greatest love is when one is willing to lay down his/her life(others-seeking and not self-seeking) for another person whom he/she loves. While painting this, it also reminds me of a famous chinese love tale, “The Butterfly Lovers”....thus a pair of butterflies. It is a tragic tale about how a couple could only find their love bliss after they pass on and both became butterflies.I’m contented to have found my bliss :D View my other “Love Meditations” creations at my Zazzle store:

  • With my brand new travel set of ‘brilliant’ watercolours, I experimented using a very quick wet on wet wash to capture an impression of a glorious pink sunset flung over the hills and reflected in the river.

  • Took this with my new HOYA R72 filter. Canon EOS 450D / Tripod / HOYA R72 filter / Lens: Kit 18-55mm IS / ISO400 / f/5 / Exposure: 6 sec / Focal Length: 18mm / Channel swapped in CS2

  • I’d driven from the scottish borders to ben nevis, (the highest peak in uk) to meet some damp friends through low cloud and light rain…so the few shots I took were pretty glum and dismal looking….. But after slight tweaking I liked the wetness of this classic sight with every blade of grass just laden with moisture and the light rain still falling… Typical camping weather! / / View large to see in full ‘soggy-vision’ ... ;)) Taken with an old compact nikon coolpix 4800

  • Beinn na Cailleach or Hill of the Old Woman, is one of the Red Cuillin hills that sits behind Broadford on the Isle of Skye. The view here is looking over the lochan of Cill Chroisd. ’’A Graham peak located towards the centre of the Isle of Skye, in Highland Council Area, Beinn na Caillich rises to 732m (2401 feet) 2½ miles (4 km) west of Broadford. The mountain is linked to Beinn Dearg Mhor (709m / 2325 feet) by a high pass. Another Beinn na Caillich, of almost the same height, is located 11 miles (17 km) to the east.’‘ ’’Beinn na Caillich (also spelt Beinn na Cailleach, and meaning the hill of the Old Woman) is 732 metres high and is a magnificent viewpoint, particularly for Broadford Bay which is almost between your feet. In 1772 noted geographer and traveller Thomas Pennant climbed the peak, the first recorded ascent of a Skye mountain. He was more impressed by the view in the opposite direction, writing ‘the prospect to the west was that of desolation itself; a savage series of rude mountains, discoloured, black and red, as if by the rage of fire. The serrated tops of Blaven affect with astonishment: and beyond them, the clustered height of Quillin.’. The mammoth cairn can be seen for miles around and is said to be the burial place of a Norwegian Princess from the time of the Viking occupation of Skye. According to legend, she wanted to feel the winds from her homeland around her grave.’‘ The primary meaning of ben is horn, hence peak. In Scotland the term in the oblique form, beinn, is extended to apply to any hill, without regard to shape, though traces of the old usage are common. The diminutive binnean always denotes a peaked hill, sometimes by no means diminutive in size. A mountain is a mountain in England, but when the climber is in Scotland it may be a beinn, a creag, or a meall, a spidean or sgor, a carn or monadh, a stuc or a torr.
