A wonderful sunset, shared with a wonderful person, thanks Lisa ;) . Life doesn’t get much better.
These are the cliff faces of what they call The Three Sisters. They are found in Katoomba near Sydney, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA.
Up at 4.30 to catch the dawn over the sand dunes of Mesquite Flats in Death Valley National Park. The haze in the sky created a beautiful sense of depth to the rolling layers of dunes and mountains beyond. I wasn’t sure this shot was going to turn out- although not straight into the sun, the scattered light in the haze has burnt the sky out, but the side-light kept the contrast in the dunes to give some nice form and dimension to the foreground. Hope you enjoy. May 2007.
This shot was taken while traveling through the Scottish Highlands, I loved the “wee bridge” and how insignificant it seems against the impressive terrain. The moody clouds also add to the scene and the feeling that this truly is a magic place.
Well here is my first Infrared image, well sort of, i got a Hoya R72 filter for Christmas and since having it it has not stopped raining, well at least on the days when i have been able to go out shooting, so i took this of the Winnats pass in the peak district but the sky was just grey cloud so i played in photoshop and added a better sky but in colour. Let me know what you think? i am waiting for a good clear day to try it out properly.
A pretty photo of Loch Cluanie on the West of Scotland. Loch Cluanie (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Cluanaidh) is a loch in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland. It is a reservoir, contained behind the Cluanie dam, constructed by Mitchell Construction and completed in 1957 as part of the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board’s Glenmoriston project to generate hydroelectricity.
Pendle Witch Country, in the Lancashire Pennines, is an area lying between (but also including) the north western edge of Bronte Country and the Ribble Valley, to the north and north east of which are Bowland, and the south western Yorkshire Dales respectively. The area is dominated by the dark brooding mass of Pendle Hill (shown above) and made famous (nay infamous) for its grim and fiendish association with the “Witches of Pendle”...

A very rare still day in Winter, January ‘08. / Total silence, except for the eerie sound of the ice creaking. A day to be treasured. It was so windy today that many of the trees had been stripped bare of their leaves, before they even had a chance to show their bright autumn colors. It seemed like winter was loudly announcing its early arrival! The turbulent gray clouds were totally obscuring the sunset tonight and the lighting was very “flat”. At least the farmer’s fields were still displaying their beautiful fall colors as darkness of night was quickly approaching. The abandoned farmhouse proudly stands in the middle of the farmer’s field, weathering another season, as it has for over a century. Farmland in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, USA This photo was was shot using a Canon EOS 10D camera with a Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM zoom lens. The focal length was zoomed to 95mm. The shutter speed was 1/90th sec. at f/5.6. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used. This is an HDR image, comprised of three exposures, processed in PhotoMatrix Pro for Mac. A place to contemplate the seasons changing, to make resolutions about new beginnings, to just sit and think…to stand on the edge and watch the earth fall away, is to feel the insignificance of our being..how petty our troubles…how small we are indeed. Watercolour on Arches Not Paper
