This shot is taken in the north of Rwanda near the DR Congo border. It showcases the absurd beauty of this broken land. Known as the land of one thousand hills Rwanda is bursting at the seams. This was one of those freak photos, straight off my camera, the only thing i changed was the white balance and the original was in color!!!... i walked straight past this spot on the walking track and my friend pulled me up!!! Spider webs were every where, there was late afternoon fog that had nt lifted, sun was perfect, dead trees, it was all there!! 30 mins later when we walked past, the sun was too low and the fog had lifted and the web could hardly be seen!!! freaky…......right place…......right time…....hahahaha…

Featured in National Parks of the World October 2009 / October 2009 / October 2009 / Featured in Live and Let Live October 2009 / Went on a Church walk 31st January up the Langdale pikes in the English lake district national park Cumbria England, but unfortunately we didn’t get to the top due to the snow and there were youngsters in the group so weren’t taking any chances there, but had a great day out nevertheless and the light wasn’t bad all day, as I am their official photographer, I get to do all the photos..What a bind.. a joke hehehe. / This was one of the last I took today on our way down. / This was shot looking into the Langdale valley. / 3 shot HDR using monopod so am pretty pleased… /

A rare day of calm on these wild and stormy shores. The hills of Applecross are reflected in Loch Kishorn, viewed from the west highland village of Achintraid, in the gloaming of a Winters afternoon. / (gloaming is a scottish word for dusk.) Shot on a Canon EOS 40D at f16, with polariser, and mounted on a tripod. RAW file converted in Photoshop CS3. We really don’t get much snow on the West Coast of Scotland, because of the influence of the Gulf Stream, and on the rare occasion it does fall, it is soon gone!! / Beinn Bhan is one of the peaks of the Applecross range, seen here from near Ardarroch, Loch Kishorn, on a gorgeous Winter’s afternoon. just as the sun was going down…at around 3.30pm !! Shot on my Canon EOS40D, tripod, polariser, f22, 1/10th sec, iso 100, auto wb, RAW file processed in PS CS3, levels/curves/selective colour/hue and saturation. The Russel Burn tumbles down from the mountains of Applecross, seen as you take the spectacular drive over the Bealach na Ba ( the Pass of the Cattle ) single track road. It is an old drover’s route, and rises to 2,053 feet, from where, on a clear day, you can see outstanding views of the Western Isles in all their glory. Mostly though, it will be so cold and windy that you will will not want to stay too long !! It is a very wild and remote area, so incredibly beautiful. Taken on a Canon EOS 40D, mounted on tripod, / canon 17-85mm IS lens at 17mm. Polariser fitted, ( to slow the shutter for more blur) / f23, three shot hdr (-2EV , +2EV and 0EV …..from a minus 1 stop underexposure reading 0f f23, 1/15 sec. on Aperture priority ) iso 100, Auto wb, RAW files converted in Photomatix and Adobe CS3. / Finished with a little Orton. A visit to Moraine Lake, Banff National Park, Canada in early June afforded me a chance to capture this 2 image composite. Just a couple weeks prior, the lake was still frozen solid.

The iconic Liathach rises above Loch Clair, on a beautiful Winter’s day. / Not a perfect reflection, but still a wonderful scene. The dead tree has stood there for as long as I remember, in just the right place for a great composition. / Liathach is one of the Torridon Hills, in the North West of Scotland. Shot on my Canon EOS 40D, tripod, polariser, f19, 1/20sec, iso 100, auto wb, single RAW file pseudo HDR in Photomatix, tweaked in PS CS3, and a final layer of Orton, reducing the opacity, to make the colours ‘pop’.
