Horseshoe Bend is the name for a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, in the United States. It is located slightly downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell, about four miles or 6 km south of Page. Accessible via a 3⁄4-mile (1.2 km) hike from U.S. Route 89, it can be viewed from the steep cliff above, forming a spectacular vista. / This image is actually made of 4 pictures taken with my Canon 20D – 17-40mm L lens and stitched together to create this panoramic

Bryce Canyon – USA tour 2008 – Trees barely hold on against the elements / please view large / Rich colors can be seen among the varied hoodoos, walls, and fins, the textures and formations were incredible. / I enjoyed the most amazing hike down to the bottom and the met the cutest Americans…...a bunch of overly friendly squirrels who had a habit of climbing up legs !!! Am not a tree nor do I have nuts :)) Yes, I had to capture them,,,, / Bryce Canyon is not a “real” canyon. It is not carved by flowing water. Water is the active ingredient here, but in the form of “frost-wedging” and chemical weathering. For 200 days a year the temperature goes above and below freezing every day. During the day, melt water seeps into fractures only to freeze at night, expanding by 9%. Now as ice, it exerts a tremendous force (2,000-20,000 pounds per squarte inch). Over time this “frost-wedging” shatters and pries rock apart. Utah – USA tour 2008 Rich colours can be seen among the varied hoodoos, walls, and fins, the textures and formations were incredible. / I enjoyed the most amazing hike down to the bottom, the vista was so beautiful with remnants of snow contrasting against the vibrant colours. Bryce Canyon is not a “real” canyon. It is not carved by flowing water. Water is the active ingredient here, but in the form of “frost-wedging” and chemical weathering. Your time with them goes so fast you are left just wanting more… / This large Silverback was only a few meters away from us! / / Unfortunately, Mountain Gorilla numbers are small, with only approximately 700 left in the wild. The primary threat comes from forest clearance and degradation, as the region’s growing human population struggles to eke out a living. Superb views extend as far as the summits of the Vosges Mountains in France and the Black Forest in Germany. The Great Aletsch Glacier, at 22 km the longest ice-stream in the Alps, begins on the Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe.

Background Information: / Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake located in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. The lake itself is easily accessed from the Icefields Parkway. It was named for Ebenezer William Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area. The lake is formed in a valley of the Waputik Range, between Caldron Peak, Peyto Peak and Mount Jimmy Simpson, at an elevation of 1,860 m (6,100 ft). During the summer, significant amounts of glacial rock flour flow into the lake, and these suspended rock particles give the lake a bright, turquoise color. Because of its bright color, photos of the lake often appear in illustrated books, and area around the lake is a popular sightseeing spot for tourists in the park. The lake is best seen from Bow Summit, the highest point on the Icefield Parkway. The lake is fed by the Peyto Creek, which drains water from the Caldron Lake and Peyto Glacier (part of the Wapta Icefield), and flows into the Mistaya River. The Utah Prairie Dog is the smallest species of prairie dog, a member of the squirrel family of rodents native to the south central steppes of the US state of Utah. Like all prairie dogs, the Utah Prairie Dog is an active forager, eating a wide array of vegetation including grasses, flowers, and seeds. They build extensive “towns” of underground tunnels and chambers, each town composed of a population of members of an extended prairie dog family. Lover’s Key is a small group of mangrove islands located in Lee County between Ft. Myers Beach, Fl, and Bonita Beach. It’s right on the Gulf of Mexico. The islands are collectively known as Lover’s Key State Park (formerly Carl E. Johnson Park). Inland backwaters full of fish, birds, and marine life, separate the islands from each other. Boats with motors are not allowed within the Park, but motorboats are allowed in the Gulf and Bay waters surrounding the Park, and there is a boat ramp within the park. This is to protect the abundant wildlife, which includes -manatees, dolphins, various herons and roseate spoonbills, ospreys, bald eagles, raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, snook, mullet, rays, and a large variety of shellfish. / the driftwood is part of the beauty of the remains from our famous Hurricane Charley sweeping in 2004 ( all of these from this series are straight as is from the camera) a real friend is someone who takes a winter vacation on a sun-drenched beach and does not send a card* —Farmer’s Almanac

This was the moment I was hoping for after eleven very strenuous miles on a muddy, narrow trail. We photographers go fishing every day, mostly we get nibbles, but sometimes we land a whopper. I am so proud of this image because I went out to shoot this scene very intentionally. It was very hard work, and this will pay off. The Na Pali Trail winds along the steep and rugged coastline of Kauai’s North shore, and ends in the legendary Kalalau Valley—the place is nearly mythical in its beauty.

Looking north up the length of Jordan Pond…the twin peaks (yes, they look like…) in the center are ‘The Bubbles’...the mountain to the left in frame is Penobscot Mountain…the mountain to the right in frame is Pemetic Mountain…a cold, and very windy day, this pond is very protected; it is usually very calm…one of the most popular places, on one of the busiest weekends of the year for tourists, but I could still get shots without people…nice place! / This area is easily accessible, with carriage roads, a great walking path around the lake, a natural amphitheater, and an excellent (and usually crowded) restaurant… Jordan Pond, Acadia National Park, Mt.
