The Rockhouse Trail is one of many hiking trails in the Hocking Hills region of southern Ohio. Although few people venture to the trails in the winter, I found the orange leaves against the winter landscape very striking. This is one of the best times to hike this area.

The ink pots trail is a trail near Johnston Canyon in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. It leads to a group of spring water pools that have a grayish blue colour due to sediment, which is why they are callled “Ink Pots”.

A hiking trail winds though a heavily forested area between waterfalls, streams, and scenic views near Highlands, North Carolina. Much like life our path is often uphill, with places we may stumble, but with wonderful surprises near if we just look.

If you purchase this photograph, I can change the title for you! This lush scene is really on the Timpanooke approach to Mt. Timpanogos. But when I am on this ascent, the vistas and the details truly slow me to a walk – while I gawk. This photo was taken August 18, 2009. I had previously hiked this trail in September 2005. On that later season date, there were colorful autumn leaves along with late blooming wildflowers due to still abundant snow on the trail from the prior winter! These scenes can be seen in an audio visual presentation you can download, Summer Snow Any comments on the AV would be welcome here as well.
