  • Eilean Donan Castle one of the Iconic Scottish Castles was just a magic place to visit and photograph. I spent close to 9 hours taking in the surrounds, the atmosphere and the serenity and of course the odd photo or two. Here is one of my favourites, I really like the balance of light and the reflections. This was the 3rd last photo I took during this 9 hour period, and goes to show that patience can pay off. All money raised with the sale of my works until November goes towards the Steven T. Hill Stroke Foundation. • Eilean Donan Castle, winter 2007

  • Romance depicting heroic or marvelous deeds, pageantry, romantic exploits etc Eilean Donan castle bathing in the early afternoon light _As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most important attractions in the Scottish highlands. Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries. Partially destroyed in a Jacobite uprising in 1719, Eilean Donan lay in ruins for the best part of 200 years until Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap bought the island in 1911 and proceeded to restore the castle to its former glory. After 20 years of toil and labour the castle was re-opened in 1932_ / http://www.eileandonancastle.com/

  • This Old Fort is the Hata area which is about an hour Drive from Dubai , UAE.

  • Bad Nauheim is a town in the Wetteraukreis district of Hesse state of Germany. As of 2004, Bad Nauheim has a population of 30,365. The town is located approximately 35 kilometers (22 mi) north of Frankfurt am Main, on the east edge of the Taunus mountain range. It is a world-famous resort, noted for its salt springs, which are used to treat heart and nerve diseases. In the old town center of Bad Nauheim is the tithe barn at the gate to the castle: The barn was used by Elvis Presley as the motif of a record cover. Elvis Presley lived in Bad Nauheim during his time with the US Army in Friedberg. Other famous people whom have stayed in the town include Franklin Delano Roosevelt (As a boy, FDR had been taken for several extended visits to Bad Nauheim where his father underwent the water cure for his heart condition) and the Saudi Arabian football team during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. In addition, during World War II Hitler had a command complex in nearby Langenhain-Ziegenberg called Adlerhorst, “the Eagle’s Nest” (not to be confused with Kehlsteinhaus of Obersalzberg, which was never referred to as “the Eagle’s Nest” by the Nazis).

  • Taken a couple of years ago on a holiday to the part of Scotland i grew up in. I had arranged to meet with a couple who were lifelong friends of mine and like myself, photography enthusiasts, my friend’s Grandmother used to live in this small cottage on an island in the lochan near Aviemore, so it seemed a good place to start and we were delighted with the conditions on arriving. Sadly, my friend Doug passed away suddenly about a year ago, so I always have mixed feelings when I look at this image, sadness that he is no longer with us and happy memories of the last day we spent together, So I’d like to dedicate this image to the memory of the late Doug McGilviray, one of Scotland’s best landscape photographers
