  • Like a fairytale castle Mont Saint Michel at dusk in the rain, I got wet and cold but it was worth it for images like this. A blended exposure using HDR techniques. All money raised in the sale of my art until November goes towards the Steven T. Hill Stroke Foundation. • Just like high tea is a good old English Tradition slipping into only a memory for a few, so is an afternoon stroll along Brightons West Pier. / Originally built in 1866, it is one of only two Grade 1 listed piers in the UK. However, it has been closed and deteriorating since 1975, gradually sinking from sight and into the sea. / Cut off from the shore (partly deliberately, for safety reasons) since 1975, the structure suffered a serious partial collapse during a storm in December, 2002, when a walkway connecting the concert hall and pavilion fell into the sea. In January, 2003 a further collapse saw the destruction of the concert hall in the middle of the pier and in March 2003 the pavilion at the end of the pier caught fire. Firefighters were unable to save the building from destruction because the collapsed walkway prevented them from reaching it. / This shot was taken on a good old English “summers” day just as the clouds broke…. for a moment!

  • “A pessimist only sees the dark side of the clouds, and mopes; a philosopher sees both sides and shrugs; an optimist doesn’t see the clouds at all …. he’s walking on them.” / - Leonard L. • The Flat Earth Society / “The facts are simple,” says Charles K. Johnson, president of the International Flat Earth Research Society. “The earth is flat.” He believes that the main purpose of the space program is to prop up a dying myth—the myth that the earth is a globe. “Nobody knows anything about the true shape of the world,” he contends. The sun and moon, in the Johnson version, are only about 32 miles in diameter. They circle above the earth in the vicinity of the equator, and their apparent rising and setting are tricks of perspective, like railroad tracks that appear to meet in the distance. The moon shines by its own light and is not eclipsed by the earth. Rather, lunar eclipses are caused by an unseen dark body occasionally passing in front of the moon. Johnson’s beliefs are firmly grounded in the Bible.

  • Lemon splash into water – another cliche shot that like water-drop shots is something that should be tried. A rainy sunday today finally made me try this using a couple of flashes and a glass flower vase (as my tank). I did a bunch of others – but the cliched lemon had to be the first! • Lake Falls in Matthiessen State Park is possibly the most magical, spiritual waterfall I have ever photographed. It is special and always blesses me with a wonderful spiritual feel to it.
