Chincoteague Island foals playing hide and seek between the tree at he firemen’s annual auction.
Having the opportunity to grow up in the country I was blessed with an abundance of wildlife right outside my front door at any given time. Many times have I watched the antics of Red squirrels … Theses small but outspoken rodents have an attitude that’s bigger than they are. More often than not getting them into trouble with creatures bigger than themselves. In this piece which started out with only the Lynx out on a branch, I realized halfway through it that it was missing something. Why was it up there ? What was it looking at ? Or better yet looking for ? That was when the perfect addition came to me. Why not a juvenile red squirrel. Not yet experienced enough to know that a lynx can get up the tree to put an end to it’s chattering and at the same time have a nice little snack. So after trying out different poses and placement I finally settled on what you see now. Will the lynx find the little fellow ? Or will the squirrel escape this game of ” Cat and Mouse ” to live another day and learn a valuable life lesson. I guess we’ll each have to leave that up to our own imagination. Enjoy.
how many birds can you find in this picture?

I was going to bed 2 hours ago. I was locking down the house and had an idea, as you do! I was thinking about the day we went to Oldina Forest and I took this image of a line of silver birch (?) trees. “Come find me” is the result, and will ultimately be the cause of my sleep in tomorrow morning :) Good night all xxx Thanks to Marcus J Ranum for his gorgeous model.

This is my favourite little spot on the outskirts of York when I need to shoot a change in the seasons on the trees and field or to take a breathe after a long day on the road before going home. Again the cloud formations were amazing and luckily the farmer had left this hale bale by the tree, so thanks to the artistic director at the farm lol. So did you spot the shark or the wolf looking for the house of straw? Shot in North Yorkshire. Another black and white pinhole conversion. / Best viewed large Huge thanks to the hosts of the Northern Landscapes Group / for the feature

The Hiding Tree was shot in Elkington Park, in Balmain, a suburb of Sydney, in March 2009, five days after shooting Early Evening In The Garden Of Good And Evil. On this occasion, the evening was marked by spectacular storms sweeping across Sydney from the southwest, and the actual shoot was a little earlier. This time I also used a model to add some scale and context, a task which befell my girlfriend and fellow photographer, Tatiana, and which required her to remain as still as possible whilst I took 3 different and separate images of 2 seconds each, using the Shift function on my tilt+shift lens. We were actually on our way to dinner at the time. This image was rejected by OneExposure. I don’t know why, perhaps my name isn’t exotic enough. Canon EOS 5D Mark II / Canon TS-E 24mm f3.5L Tilt+Shift Lens / ISO: 50 / Aperture: f5.6 / Speed: 2 seconds each shot / Image: 3 horizontally-shot RAW files, 1st at +11mm shift, 2nd at 0mm shift, 3rd at -11mm shift. Files were then merged. Processing was confined to sharpening. / Focus: Manual, at 0mm shift. / Location: As above
