I have put together photographs and paintings of my “Groovy Girl Series” / Check back often because this series is taking on a life of its own. Poems are written by the very talented Sally Omar. You can find more of her wonderful poetry right here on redbubble. / Groovy Memories Montage / JUST ANOTHER GROOVY GAL / Hanging out in the Five & Dime / Looking real good / And feeling fine / Long blonde hair / And bright pink sweater / Poodle skirt / Couldn’t look better / Likes to flirt / With the boys in town / Always smiling / They hang around / Big sunglasses are the craze / Everyone wears them / Not just a phase / Sure you had seen her / Walking down the street / With her special walk / And wedgies on her feet / JUST ANOTHER GROOVY GAL Poem by Sall Omar .......................................................................................................... / She thought it was groovy / And he did too / That they made love / And no one knew / If they met while taking a walk / They never said a word..never talked / He was somehow her mystery / And would be the first in her sexual history / They would have a brief affair / But they would never dare / To make it known / They would make love..she’d go home / He was more a shadow than a boyfriend / The picture was obvious..it would end / He was satisfied with what he had / Never complained .. was never sad / He was in the background and he could see / This was never a relationship that could not be / They would remain for awhile / They would laugh and they would smile / Lay in bed until noon each day / Then she would go on her way / THE GROOVY COUPLE Poem by Sally Omar / .............................................................................................................. / / ............................................................................................................... / / ............................................................................................................. / / She didn’t care..she was bold / It was something..that had to be told / It’s over…I’m on my way / Don’t want to see you..any day / The affair has ended..don’t you see / You were never..right for me / It was sex..that’s all we had / It was great..never bad / Time for me..to move ahead / There is waiting..another bed / I never loved you..let’s agree / Don’t ever..bother me / I don’t want you..I don’t care / This is..THE END OF A GROOVY AFFAIR Poem by Sally Omar .............................................................................................................. / ................................................................................................................ / / ................................................................................................................ / / ................................................................................................................ / / The girls were so hot..the boys so cool / They even got away with cutting school / Managing to hang out in the park every day / They just loved living this way / Mini-skirts were the deal / All the boys behind the wheel / Of such cool cars / They knew one day they would go far / They smoked some weed and got high / Then they went home and they lied / Got detention once in awhile / They didn’t care they would just smile / In the candystore they loved to hang / And they were known as THE GROOVY GANG Poem by Sally Omar / ........................................................................................................... / / The prom is tomorrow…and I could die / He said he’d take me…and he lied / I’m so humiliated…I don’t have a date / Can’t face anyone..how can I graduate / How can he ….treat me this way / I gave in to him..just today / Now he says..he can’t go / How can he do this…I don’t know / He’s such a liar…I can’t believe / I did something foolish..And he would leave / Me with no date for the prom…. how will it look / I’ll just stay home … and read a book / I keep thinking…he gave me no hint / Look at me…A GROOVY GIRL DISAPPOINTMENT Poem by Sally Omar / .......................................................................................................... / / My life is sad as it can be / So many bad things happened to me / My father lost his job in this town / That means we have to move around / My mother is pregnant for the fourth time / And we don’t even have a dime / My little brother caught a cold / And my grandma is getting old / My life is in such disrepair / I won’t be able to color my hair / Boyfriends come and then they go / I just really don’t know / How did my life turn out this way / I really want to make a big scene / But don’t want to be called THE GROOVY DRAMA QUEEN Poem by Sally Omar / ........................................................................................................... / / ............................................................................................................. / / May the Groovy Couple live as one / Always be happy and walk in the sun / Have little groovies one by one / Little boys and girls who will be fun / May the sun shine on all of their faces / And the Groovy Couple go many places / Their little groovies will grow and be like mom &dad / Having same good time as they had / May they always love each other the most / This is my GROOVY WEDDING TOAST Poem by Sally Omar / ............................................................................................................. / / ............................................................................................................. / / I’m out with the school jock / Listening to Jailhouse Rock / Elvis is really cool / Love to cut classes from school / Hope he doesn’t want to park / I have to be home before dark / Not looking for romance / All I want to do is dance / I know he’s groovy at school / But I’m certainly not a fool / All the girls want this guy / He’s handsome I can’t lie / I love this car so much / But really don’t want his touch / I hope he doesn’t try to get too far / Or I’ll slap his face in this car / He better not think anything can occur / Remember I’m THE GROOVY PASSENGER Poem by Sally Omar / ........................................................................................................... / Stay tuned….

Thank you for voting for “Cold Comfort” / / Wish You Were Here (Waters, Gilmour) So, so you think you can tell / Heaven from Hell, / Blue skys from pain. / Can you tell a green field / From a cold steel rail? / A smile from a veil? / Do you think you can tell? And did they get you to trade / Your heros for ghosts? / Hot ashes for trees? / Hot air for a cool breeze? / Cold comfort for change? / And did you exchange / A walk on part in the war / For a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. / We’re just two lost souls / Swimming in a fish bowl, / Year after year, / Running over the same old ground. / What have we found? / The same old fears. / Wish you were here. Thank you , my dear friends for all of your prayers. I had the courage to give my dear sweet Alley back to God today. I am so thankful for all of the wonderful years we had together and I know I will see him again. Thank you Inspired Art Group for featuring ‘Departure’. / / Departure Once again things have shattered / The things to you I thought would matter / The spilling of the guts / And the spilling of the beans / The outbursts of laugher / Thrust at mundane dreams A walk in the park / A cup of coffee by the stream / A window blown opened / By a warm breeze / Caught up in the chatter / Of a day full of schemes A ticket to a movie / Wearing worn out jeans / A glimpse caught of a drama unfolding / While skipping through the isles / Of what it all means But once again things have shattered / The things to you I thought would matter / And as I exit gently into the night / I will leave a light on / Until things get right Hickerson
