Hexagon

78 creative works found

  • Experimental photography, using polarising filter. Deliberately waited for the sun to come out from behind the clouds to get the hexagon light pattern. Intermittent rainbow effect was a bonus.

  • Curly is kinda hypnotic, I reckon.

  • The primarily elements were sourced from photos taken at the Eden Project in the UK. See this on a wall colour of your choice; see actual size detail.

  • What is Tantrix? 56 different tiles in the set containing three lines, going from one edge of the tile to another. No two lines on a tile have the same colour. There are four colours in the set: red, yellow, blue, and green. No two tiles are identical, and each is individually numbered from 1 through 56. In simple terms it’s a frustrating game for one but a fun game for two or more.

  • An old hexagonal Post Box situated on the promenade in South Queensferry, Scotland (the town where I live). Top ten place in the Mail Boxes Challenge : 17 Apr 09 BEST VIEWED LARGER Related shots can be found at: South Queensferry and Lowland Scotland.

  • The legend says that the Irish giant Fionn mac Cumhaill built the causeway to walk to Scotland and fight his Scottish counterpart Benandonner. / These impressive basalt columns disappear under the North Channel and reappear on the Scottish isle of Staffa.

  • This is totally digital. No photography involved.

  • Made in Apophysis 2.08 using the new plugins crackle and hexes and a huge amount of Xaos. Entered into Alphabet Soup for the letter B – Its my Bee Hive!

  • Twiddling with your optical neurons. / It pays to click on the T-shirt image to view it larger… the effect is caused by the fine line work.

  • She saw them walking towards her. The school yard seemed crowded with those big kids from the top class. / She didnt like big kids. She didnt like large groups. / Ominous. / They all started talking at once / ‘That’s her’ ‘She is really little’ ‘Teacher read your story to us’ ‘Who told you what to write it?’ ‘Teacher said we could learn…’ / ‘Where did you get these fancy words?’ ‘Are you 7 or 8?’ She stopped listening. Those 13 year old seemed bigger and bigger as they gathered around. / She looked up searching for gaps between the faces. / ‘I cant see the sky. I wish they wouldnt steal my sky’ she thought ’ I should never write like that again. Perhaps I’ll get my sky back.’ Next night she dreamt about flying with geese. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / I found it hard to deal with the various young characters – hard to morph, hard to pose, hard to find suitable clothes… I modeled the T-shirts of the boys in the center with Hexagon, and textured the clothes in Vue. Procedural skin textures generated with SkinVue.

  • Honeycomb

  • A close up section from a larger painting of flowing movements of acrylic paint almost still in it’s liquid state. Feel free to visit my website at www.markchadwick.co.uk

  • A few years ago I had a craze for collage. The hexagons that make up this design are cut with a razorblade from Sunday newspaper colour supplements donated to me by the late Stan Bullen from our church. I would collect cuttings from magazines, of texture, colour, etc., storing them in polypockets. I still have two ring-binders full of them. Maybe I should do some more. I didn’t have a guillotine or a cutting surface when I did these, so doing them now may even be easier.

  • These may look very simple, but they actually take a while to do, as they have to be measured and cut carefully before arranging into the pencilled design. FEATURED BY STEEL BLADES AND THE POWER OF VISCOSITY GROUP – 11th October 2009

  • THIS WAS TAKEN IN A SMALL COURTYARD HIDDEN AWAY FROM THE MAIN STREET IN MADRID. JUST A ROUND COURTYARD WITH THE WALLS FORMING A HEXAGON SHAPE. IT WAS ONLY WHEN I LOOKED UP THAT I NOTICD THERE WAS NO ROOF BUT ALL THE WALLS CAME TOGETHER TO FORM THIS GREAT EYE CONFUSING PERSPECTIVE VIEW /

  • DAFT PUNK / Fot those of you who don’t know about them I suggest you look them up and then come back for another look. For the rest… you enjoy this t-shirt! / Douce Detail / PLEASE CLICK ON MY OTHER T-SHIRTS /

  • This water clear, prismatic crystal of hexagonal calcite was collected by me in the Dalen-Kjorholt Mine at Brevik, Norway in 2006. The location in the mine where this was collected just sparkled under the headlamp looking like an ice lined cavern. Some of the finest and most diverse forms of calcite I have seen come from this underground mine. Minolta 7D with Tamron 90 mm f2.8 macro.

  • Sometimes the simplest objects (or a combination thereof) can produce really interesting visual effects. The strong colours of this little water pump caught my eye on the Malaysian island of Langkawi. As soon as I spotted it, I immediately wandered off the path to get a closer look at the structure with its bolts of different colours, as well as the combination of circles and hexagons of various sizes. I deliberately shot this tight frame to include the fresh green leaves that caressed the metal, with the highest leaf even contouring itself to the pump’s shape. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my work in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F6.7, 1/60 sec, ISO 800, focal length 125mm. Featured in IMAGES AND IDEAS, December 2009. Malaysia2008-6577
