A half-mile north of the Oconaluftee Visitor Center is Mingus Mill. Built in 1886, this historic grist mill uses a water-powered turbine instead of a water wheel to power all of the machinery in the building. A small little island breaks the Tyger River in two. This part of the river is in a very isolated spot where perhaps two or three families live in a 20 mile radius. A peaceful flowing part of the river.
I love the color combination on this inversion of crabapple blossoms!!
