  • This is an Eastern collared lizard, and this particular specimen belongs to a subspecies of the broader genus that inhabits the few remaining glade habitats in southern Missouri’s Ozark Mountains. I personally really like this image because the colorful, lichen covered rocks are just as beautiful as the lizard, and the two together make for a special treat! / /

  • A gorgeous find…..a Northern Water Snake….wrapped in the metal wire of a drain fence along a fresh lake. / This fellow and 3 others were using this technique very successfully and could care less that I was photographing them only a few feet away. / When I first walked up all I saw was a bit of it’s tail wrapped around the wire…but as I prepaired for photos his head and parts of his body rose out of the water. Incredible! / Talk about using human handiwork to improve apon life-skills!

  • Yes, thats right, we are taking some pics of a great little Four-pored earless dragon we captured after spotting it from the car driving down a rocky track on the Barrier Ranges near Broken Hill, western NSW. These surveys were part of the Biodiversity Assessment for the recently approved Silverton Wind Farm near Broken Hill. Me (on the left) is posing the little dragon (just follow my arm down to the rock to see the tiny dragon) with my colleague, Jacqui, taking the happy snaps!
