  • Mark, an American soldier, gave his life for his fellow countrymen in the war in Iraq. The only one of his unit to survive the initial blast, he battled for life as he was flown back to the United States for medical care. His family flocked to his side and surrounded him with love in his final hours. Not long after his arrival in America, he died on home soil in the arms of his loved ones. His mother Kim, my husband’s first cousin, wrote this poem, “Is it you?” as she struggled with grief and loneliness for her young son. She asked me if I had a dragonfly photo to accompany her poem which relates the tale of the dragonflies that seem to hover near her in a show of consolation. This image is our collaboration, our joint effort, in memory of Mark Graham who defended the cause of freedom with steadfast determination and a valiant heart. May he rest in peace and may the angels surround him and his family now and forever. (100% of proceeds from sales will go to the Mark W. Graham Foundation; see another image, “Is it you?” in this portfolio if you’d like a green dragonfly. It will print better in the card size). Taken from the Mark W. Graham Foundation website, here is additional information about the foundation to which all funds from the sales of these images will be donated: “The Mark W. Graham Foundation is a non-profit organization which provides support for young people of character and military families in crisis. It honors the legacy of Mark Graham, a fallen soldier whose strength of character and gift of service to his country are an inspiration to all who knew him. Mark was a Lafayette, La., native and his death opened the community’s eyes to the reality of war and the sacrifice soldiers make in their fight to keep our country free. He was married to Stephanie for a little more than a year when he died. Mark was 22 years old.”

  • Rainbow Boy, one of the many costumed do-gooders from Heroic Comics, leaps into action.

  • Enjoy

  • Let’s face it, when they send this lot in you know you’re in bother.

  • High adventure is the name of the game here. A very recent work showcasing some of what I do best.

  • A somewhat older work. I still like it quite a bit. The female character in this has returned on more recent works and often in sketches.

  • This is also pretty old, yet is still well recieved with enough people for me to include it as a print. Sometimes I like to cut loose and make a mess of my page with a lot of energy and improvisation. This is one such instance.

  • For the memory of a friend.

  • XD / the first addition to my halo achievement works… / hope every one likes it

  • Statue of an unknown soldier going off to war.

  • Don’t worry, you’ll get there some day.

  • Gotham is for Heros

  • Duality of heroism – the light side and the dark side – heroes

  • You don’t think the dOvemaster will not try to rule the seas too with the ultimate final COO? Well think again, these dOves can fly underwater with the fish…...........and it’s up to our mighty Pakistani Starfleet Heroes to stop the dOvemaster wether at be at sea, land or far out in outerspace because if they don’t….......obeying the dOvemaster may be our only ultimate choice.

  • A cover for a friend’s comic book character, only later did I realize it bears a resemblance to the classic Elric of Melnibone. Watercolor, original still available. A mixture of whatever paints I had at the time, most likely student grades of grumbacher and windsor newton, on 140 lb cold press arches paper. I shoot photos for reference, which I did for this…including some photos I had of skulls in my files!

  • out for lunch.

  • Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 10-20 lens at 10mm, F11, shutter speed 1/80 second, ISO200, tweaked in Photoshop This shot was taken a few weeks ago when I went to the Lake District on a stag do. My friend Mark is adopting an heroic pose as requested by the photographer (well it is heroic as Mark can get!). The view is of the ridge we had just walked up (Striding Edge) on the right hand side, red tarn is in the foreground, Catstycam is the peak on the left we walked around to later and descended from. In the distance you can see a stretch of water which is Ullswater. Please view large
