This little wooden bridge is no more..washed away in a terrible storm a few years back. It was situated on the very western edge of the North Yorkshire Moors near the small village of Hawnby. I named it ‘Hermit’s Bridge’ as there is a little cave close by which was inhabited by a hermit in days of yore!

Digital painting isn’t something that I’ve done a lot of over the years, as I’ve always preferred the more traditional way, but I’ve started getting into it lately. There have been mixed results, but I sort of like how this one came out. Sure, the old guy is scary, but he’s on a snail. I mean, the minute the Jeffery senses that something is amiss all he has to do is turn and run. It’s not like the guy is going to catch him or anything, right?
Captured some nice detail and colour on this macro picture of a hermit crab on the Great Barrier Reef. Nikon D200 / 105mm VR Macro
what is the point of telling you anything / you never listen to me / you only hear the bad, the worst / but the good news? / you don’t care for them at all why? am i nothing to you / can’t you understand me / can’t you try, at least / do i mean nothing to you? why can’t you feel happy for me? i fought hard on my own / i’m slowly reaching my goals / accomplishing them slowly but why… / why do you feel nothing for me? uploaded this a few days ago actually.. just didn’t have it published till now.. you know.. that feeling.. when you’ve accomplished something, but no one seems to give a damn? it feels like sorta.. like having acid pouring out of my heart instead of blood.. running through my veins, burning me from the inside.. tears.. tears burn my eyes.. so much, it’s as if i’m crying blood.. how can i not turn into a hermit? if i retreat from people.. maybe i won’t need them so much. i won’t care for them. then i won’t feel pain if they never care or love or feel happy for me, hey?
A close up portrait of a robber crab….....also known as a coconut crab as they crack and eat coconuts! These are my favourite creatures on the planet! I’m fascinated by all the separate plates which join together to make up a whole crab! They are basically evolved hermit crabs in that they do not carry shells to protect their abdomen. They are very imposing, massive creatures with a scientific name of Birgus Latro and they can be blue or red in colour! Their leg span can reach around 70cm! The biggest i’ve seen had a body size 1 foot square and i was even lucky enough to see 20 in one small area feasting on a fallen coconut tree! Despite their size and somewhat menacing appearance, they are gentle and placid creatures who back away when threatened. Found on Christmas Island, Indian Ocean Territories, Australia. Taken on Canon 5D at f5.6, 1/40th sec, ISO 800, 400mm of 100-400mm lens. As is.

A hermit crab found off of our dock in Atlantic Beach, NC. Taken with my trusty Canon Rebel XSI. I love the way you can see his eyes watching the camera and the bright blue background serves a nice contrast to his shell.

Self-portrait with circular inspiration within an inspiration… Tarot Series, by Birds. A little backstory; i began this series in 2007, completed several cards and then just sort of…lost the inspiration. / Meanwhile, Birds here created the above musical piece to the cards i had completed (to be found here, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page). / Over the past few days, i’ve listened to the piece about 43,000 times (i recommend putting it on headphones and cranking it up to 11 ) and sure enough, i found myself ready to start working on the series again. / Some are already uploaded here – / Tarot Series, with the exception of The Star, which is still too small to be printed so doesn’t show up on the RB gallery thing – so lame. Anyway - / Yay, brainarttwinnage! Now onto the interpretation (the one i like best is paraphrased below and originally to be found here) - “The Hermit is a card of connections and enlightenment. Combined with a desire to just “be alone,” the Querent who gets this card is probably feeling impatient with people who disturb their peace or who can’t see what they’re seeing (“Are you blind?” might be their refrain, or, more typically, “You just don’t get it, and I can’t explain it to you.”). In typical Virgo fashion, they’re likely to be grumpy and anti-social. But for the Querent (if no one else!) this is a special time. Like an artist who hides for days then emerges to paint a masterpiece, this quiet time allows all the pieces to fall into place.”
