Find me a cheekier beef horse than this, and I’ll gladly give you my favourite teapot. Detail, colour, taste and pure cheek – this cheeky cow’s got the lot. To quote what she said to me just after I took the picture: “Moo”. And you can’t argue with that. Proud of your kitchen? Imagine this beauty on your wall. As a picture, I mean. Not the actual cow. Look at my lovely shop: http://baddoggy.redbubble.com/ Taken on the cliffs above Robin Hood’s Bay, near Whitby, North Yorkshire. I could’ve cropped it conventionally, but I couldn’t bring myself to chop out that sky.
This is a composite of three photos, a sculpture of the herd (by a local artist I am told), a close-up of just one of the horses, and a wagon in my sister’s yard.
As you look toward the sky, you might see the Storm Herd. As they thunder across the sky to bring the storm clouds of your imagination.. / The’re led by a white stallion named Snowfire.. / part of it was photographed Rodeo beach / /
Sheep dog and Sheperd herding the flock through a winter landscape at sunset. A river flows to the left and a bank of woodland to the right frames this impressive landscape. The patches of light glow on the white snow and the wool coats of the sheep. This is an OIL PAINTING by Coolart and it took her a year to complete
Bela,as a Rotweiller pup with her first chew. Rescued from the back of a van, she had been weened early and had been ‘caged’ in a van as the owner travelled the local area selling pet supplies. A very special dog as she timed her arrival with our tenth wedding anniversary and truly settling ın Turkey. I had had Rottweiler rescue dogs in the UK and had fallen in love with the breed – Roxy and Clyde are dear departed friends. She mated with Troy in January 2009 and produced a wonderful litter of pups: they were born on the anniversary of Clyde’s passing a year ealier. From the litter we intended to keep a boy and name him Clyde after the dog we rehomed with friends in the UK and possibly a girl (Mollie). Sadly, we fell in love and kept four …Mollie, Bonnie and Fluff. Bela is now neutered. The Rottweiler, or Rottweil Metzgerhund (“Butchers Dog”), is a “medium to large size, stalwart dog” breed originating in Germany as a herding dog. It is a hardy and very intelligent breed. Rottweilers also worked as draught dogs, pulling carts to carry meat and other products to market. “Rottweiler breeders aim at a dog of abundant strength, black coated with clearly defined rich tan markings, whose powerful appearance does not lack nobility and which is exceptionally well suited to being a companion, service and working dog.” The Rottweiler was kept busy in these traditional roles until the mid-19th century when railroads replaced droving for getting livestock to market. Although there are still Rottweilers working stock all over the world, many other roles have been found for this versatile breed. During the first and second World Wars, Rottweilers were put into service in various roles including as messenger, draught and guard dogs. Currently they are often used as search and rescue, assistance, guide dogs for the blind, guard and police dogs in addition to their traditional roles. Although an extremely versatile breed used in recent times for many other purposes, the Rottweiler is first and foremost one of the oldest, if not the oldest, of herding breeds. A multi-faceted herding and stock protection dog of exceptional ability, it is capable of working all kinds of livestock under a wide variety of conditions. The breed is an ancient one, whose history stretches back to the Roman Empire. In those times, the legions traveled with their meat on the hoof and required the assistance of working dogs to herd the cattle. One route the army traveled was through Württemberg and on to the small market town of Rottweil. The principal ancestors of the first Rottweilers during this time was supposed to be the Roman droving dog, local dogs the army met on its travels, and dogs with molosser appearance coming from England and The Netherlands. This region eventually became an important cattle area, and the descendants of the Roman cattle dogs proved their worth in both driving and protecting the cattle from robbers and wild animals. However, by the end of the 19th century as railroads became the main method for moving stock to market, the breed had declined so much that in 1900 there was only one female to be found in the town of Rottweil. Original digital photograph. Taken with a Sony Full HD 1080 Cyber Shot camera. Many people do not know (I didn’t until I went on this drive) that you can’t herd Buffalo, you drive them…the American Bison is our representation of the African Rhino…A full grown Male Buffalo can over turn a truck and kill a horse in the blink of an eye. I had it explained to me by one of the many professional drovers, that you have to make the “Lows” as they are called..think it is their idea to go in a certain direction… and you can’t push them like a herd of cattle…it is the hardest job on the face of this earth. A Cowboy can not get within 25 feet of the outside line because Buffalo have explosive tempers and pretty much hate horses. / Taking pictures of this drive was like filming an epic saga of history…it truly felt as if we were all in this time warp of 200 years ago. My husband and I were invited by the Gov. of South Dakota to help with the yearly Buffalo Roundup. This is an event that takes place every year to round up the 2000 plus herd of Buffalo of the Black Hills and take them over 25 miles to holding pens for vaccination, doctoring and culling. / This was the most awesome experience…all on horse back and photo opportunities of a lifetime. Photograph taken with Sony Cybershot early this morning – 20 May 2009. Other than cropping for redbubble the picture is as ‘real’ as it gets, ‘untouched’ and ‘as is’. The metal man had arrived and was reinforcing Alkatraz aka ‘The Den’ as my pooches have become little Houdini’s amongst other things. The sound of the drill scared them and they came to me for protection – being the evil mother that I am I left them sitting and tried to catch the moment. To get all six in one place and not chewing, fighting, digging or eating was simply beautiful. The title is inspired by a Nusrery Rhyme that my Nannan used to ‘play’ with me ….it fits perfectly … There were six in a bed / And the little one said / “Roll over, roll over” / So they all rolled over / And one fell out There were five in a bed…. / Lyrics courtesy The Teachers Guide ACRYLIC ART CALENDARS CARDS POETRY PHOTOGRAPHY – ANIMALS PHOTOGRAPHY -CANDID SHOTS PHOTOGRAPHY – CATS AND DOGS / CATS / DOGS PHOTOGRAPHY – CONTEMPORARY WORK PHOTOGRAPHY – FLOWERS PHOTOGRAPHY – INSECTS PHOTOGRAPHY – TRADITIONALLY TURKISH PHOTOGRAPHY – TREE AND TREE PARTS T-SHİRTS —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / CATS ARE US / CHLOE / DIBLEY / KAR / MINTY / LINFORD / “LISA“ / “OLLIE“ / “OTHERS“ DOGS ARE US / BELA / CLYDE -ROTTWEILER PUP / LUCKY / MOLLIE -ROTTWEILER PUP / ROTTWEILER PUPS – THE FIRST FOUR WEEKS / ROTTWEILER PUPS – FOUR WEEKS AND ON / ROTTWEILER PUPS – EIGHT WEEKS AND COUNTING / TROY / “OTHERS“ ROTTWEILER PUPS A litter of 9 rottweiler puppies pups was born 24th March 2009. / Their mother is Bela and he father is Troy. / Taken with Sony Cybershot 14 May 2009.
