Another of the New York exhibition. Hera was also one of the largest and has a lot of impact. The reaction is mixed from those who adore the openness to those who found it made them feel vulnerable. Again the subject is soft pastel, the surrounding work is mixed, but mainly acrylic, inks, gold, etc

This is my special restaurant in Gothenburg…I´m a Taurean, lol! / 18th century vaults. The Cow-horned Egyptian goddess Hathor was revered as the ancient Queen of Heaven. She was the patron of dancers, the generator of light and radiant power. The Cow is still revered in India, and the Greek Goddess Hera was / referred to as `Cow-eyed´, which was meant as a compliment. The reference to `cow´ is no longer thought of as a positive one…and it´s the same with many other words to do with the feminine today. Think of `crying like a girl´ or acting / `like a woman´… This has to do with the shift from a motherly, powerful creator Goddess to an allpowerful and vengeful male god, who can be kind and protective…if you are `obedient´. For about 2000 years the Cow/Bull astrological sign ruled the world and the animals were revered and sculpted all over the old world…think of Bronze Age Crete, where frescoes show young women and men jumping over the horns of bulls, acting like circus acrobats. It was a rite in honour of the ruling idea of the deity. The Greek word `acro´ means `mountain top` and that´s probably where the rites took place. Compare the word `acropolis´ which means `the (holy) city on the mountain top´ . The bullfighting practiced in Spain and Portugal today, seem to be of very old origin … remnants of old rites. This is an area where cave art proves that these animals were revered there at the beginning of history.

    by vivianne

    US$3.99–US$91.20

  • Hera is the queek of the greek gods married to the unfaithful Zues, Hera is the saviour of Jason and the tormenter of Hercules Often she id represented as no more that a Peacocks Feather as she gave the bird its tail but she is also the goddess of the milky way eagles and all creatures with shells are linked to her as are the flowers lillys poppys and white roses. Some of you may notic a mistake in the border and such deliberate flaws are part of my work as most cultures were the symbols and designs that make up my work derive from belived that only the gods themselve were perfect so all mortal things could not be hence the mistakes.
