A pretty purple flower I found in our lawn one Sunday morning. Richmond, Texas Nikon D40X, f/8.0, ISO 100, focal length: 38.0mm, metering mode: pattern
A tranquil pasture and twilight reflects off the trees, evening is coming on. Stopped on Ransom Road on the way into Richmond, Texas, as the sun was going down. I like the way it’s reflected on the trunks of the trees and the flowers in the pasture. Taken with Nikon D40X, f/6.3, ISO 100, focal length 55.0mm, metering: pattern, light: natural

Big sky of blue and swirling clouds on a drive through the countryside on the Big Island of Hawaii.
The terrain in the countryside of the Big Island of Hawaii is scattered with lava flows hundreds of years old. Slowly the grass and trees is establishing a hold on it, but you can still see the lava just as it was then. In the distance, just past the ocean, the island of Maui can be seen.
The countryside on the Big Island of Hawaii has a desolate and strange beauty due to the lava flows from hundreds of years ago. Slowly the grass and trees are taking hold. In the background, past the blue of the ocean and sitting in the clouds, is Maui. Nikon D40X

We had just seen Kilauea on the Big Island of Hawaii and were walking back to the car when we came upon this jungle-like area behind Volcano Lodge. The light was dancing off the ferns and the overgrown trees in a beautiful display. Just too hard to resist. Nikon D40X, f/29.0, ISO 100, focal length 90.0mm
These fern sprouts were behind Volcano Lodge on the Big Island of Hawaii when we were heading to our car. It was incredible how big they were! Love that fertile soil! Nikon D40X, f/29.0, ISO 100, focal length 200.0mm
Unless you have been there it is difficult to describe the depth of color of the vegetation surrounding Kilauea volcano. The trees are so tall and the ferns are so huge! The sun was sending light all over the ferns but the canopy was still dark.
