Updated the design to use Helvetica Neue Bold, in white instead of black. Everyone needs one!
At the risk of looking like a one-trick pony (and a derivative one at that, LOLOL!), I decided to stuff around with the Experimental Jetset idea a few more times and come up with some obnoxious variations on the “John & Paul & Ringo & George.” tees. Here is the obvious starting point ;-)
One for the party faithful.
You should know what this is all about. / These are sold at 0% markup.
Happy Birthday Helvetica! / Does anyone remember rub down transfer letters?
I think I’m actually more proud of this than my original masterpiece (yes, I use the term masterpiece very loosely indeed!). So which font is it? I will organize some kind of prize for the first non-staffer to correctly identify the font, and I will make the prize extra awesome if it’s a female type nerd who answers rather than a male ;)
The story: / The various physical and mental efforts required in the fulfillment of a design brief. The shirt: / Black Helvetica on Heather Grey. There’s nothing that isn’t awesome about that. / The possibilities: / A designer could wear this to a job interview and not have to say a word. Your non-designer friends at the pub will say “WTF?” whilst your designer friends will quietly nod in agreement. You can use it as instructions during a bout of creative block. Actually, it could be about any creative process really…
Year 8 trigonometry anyone? For the triangle challenge over in the t-shirt revolution here. Enjoy :).
There were heaps of these little white cabbage moths/butterflies hanging out in the back yard today. I had a nice chance encounter with one of them.

More pics: / The (black) Tshirt of the Poster: A response to all the ominous and fearful talk I’m hearing, regarding the current economic crisis. Using potent currency symbols as the first letters of various slang words used to express fear. With quote: “Try to relax and enjoy the crisis” by Ashleigh Brilliant. Set in tightly-kerned white Helvetica Neue Bold on black. There’s a white one too…
this tee is in response to the “shit happens” tees about the place. there’s a fatalistic apathy out there, a belief that something “bigger” controls the end game that makes me really wonder (in a growly kinda way)! i know the concept of free will is one of those big (and perhaps unwinnable) debates, but come on peoples the least you can do is act as though you are an active agent in your life and that what you do and say matters! end rant.
Over the summer holidays I read a few books including Stephen King’s great bio/howto: On Writing. In the first few pages he discusses the importance of a writer’s editor. And in brilliant little play on words he states: to write is human, to edit, devine This term is of course derived from the almost proverbial quote by poet Alexander Pope to err is human, to forgive divine. I am not a writer, I’m a designer, and after reading King’s Quote i sat there for a while and tried to come up with my own mantra. To sketch is human, to design is divine is what i got. i love it, it rhymes, has alliteration, and is to the point! I also over summer read a book about Murakami and saw so many beautiful orchids… All those summer experiences have come together for my first piece of 2009. I also googled my new mantra and was so happy to see that at least on the web no one else had written it yet, proving there is still some space for new ideas. especially in wonderful place like redbubble!
What more is there to say?
