If you haven’t already noticed, I am completely and utterly useless with photo editing and manipulation. I take photos, I don’t make them. BUT… I am starting to think it could be a bit of fun to mess around with some of my shots. So I googled Photoshop only to find out that it costs a hell of a lot of money and considering I might play with it once and decide it’s not for me, I don’t think that idea is going to work. I don’t really know what I’m asking here? Can anyone suggest a more budget concious way of finding out if I’m into the whole photomanipulation thing? Should I take a class? Or is there a free trial of something I can download? Or something else? Bear in mind I am the most extreme kind of amature with this kind of thing. I clap my hands if I successfully crop something! Your advice? P.S. I’m a goody two-shoes and don’t go in for pirated software.

I’ve been looking around on redbubble and I’m starting to think I might have become obsessed with the site, I love to see what everyone else produces and I was blown away with a lot of the photos of different places in Australia… all of you are making me want to go there just so I can have wonderful images like yours. The amazing colors in all of your shots astound me! The reason I am writing a blog now is because I wanted to know what other people think as to what makes a good photograph? What are certain things that pull you in to the photo? What attracted you in the first place… What do you like most about black and whites? and what are somethings that you would like to see more of? I have this aching feeling of wanting to go out and shoot something… I guess I’ve just become inspired by all of you! (This site really is wonderful!) Any suggestions to help a fellow photographer to improve are more than welcomed and appreciated. Thank you!

I have wanted to own or run a gallery for some time now mainly to display and sell local artist’s work, but because of the economics of my home town, the fierce competition of the larger cities around me, and the fact that I am a poor photography student with a family and no money, It has never been practical. / The other day I was walking through Wal-Mart (American retail super-center run by under paid needy workers) and I noticed they had new lcd monitors set up at the end of the isles for POS (Point of Sale) demonstrations. These POS screens also had speakers which I had not seen before in a POS. / What I saw in my head was this; A gallery that caters to the artist and the customer by offering an experience I know I have never had at a gallery: You walk in to the gallery and it looks much like a normal gallery, 10 or so 19 inch digital picture frames, each with sound so that the artist can display their work with their interpretation in their voice, or their choice of music, poem, noise, etc. (some of these I know you would be dealing with copyrights). / Depending on technology you might also be able to place your order for what ever size print you like right there at the frame. Preferably printing would be done in house so that the artist could see that the prints are what they need to be, but that would only be if there was enough demand to pay for it. I think that artist control of finished product is a must if this idea is going to work. In a conventional gallery the artist brings the finished piece into the gallery, so there is nothing that can really go wrong. With my idea the artist is letting a third party print their work, and I would want it to be exactly how they want it. / Please let me know what you think of this idea. If you don’t like it, please tell me why or what you would change. If you do like it, please tell me why and what you would change. Thank you for your time and comments, Shaun

Hey there, fellow RedBubblians… Once again I am browsing through hundreds of folios, numerous pictures, wonderful writings and great art… And over and over again I am thinking “How did they do that?” ... “What did they do to their cameras/pencils/papers/pens/canvas/lights/computers/add-form-of-art-here to get this effect?” ... “What the heck can I do to my own art to get better?” I love all your kind words on my photos, and pictures. In my very own portfolio, those are my best ones. Compared to your works I have seen, they are crap… I want to get better. I want to learn about lighting, ISO, Shutterspeeds, DOFs, etc. I want to know, what I can do with my pictures, in my situations when I shot them, to improve the effects, to get the pictures clearer, to just make them more beautiful and more on par with what I WANT them to be. / I can’t manage on my own. In thus, this is a plea to all RedBubblians out there, who can give advice and critique. When my pictures are really bad, tell me – but also tell me what I can do to make them better, so I can improve my works in themselves. / I do know, that some pictures, the quality itself is bad – the negative scans only are 72dpi on those that I shot with film. I couldn’t get bigger ones (the lab said, I don’t need bigger ones – I said I do, they said they won’t do it, since I am not a professional grinds teeth). I have a handful on there now, that I shot with a digicam as well. A friend of mine bought a new camera and gave me his Canon D10 to play around with. Good thing is, that all my Canon lenses fit on that one as well. / I won’t give up on film! I do like the excitement to wait for the results too much. But I also realize, in order to improve my film works, I need to improve my understanding. And with the trial and error, it is just cheaper using Digital (I spent a FORTUNE just for developing lately and the successrate to get nice pictures was horrible). But that’s just rambling. To get back to the point: Feel free to tear my pictures apart, tell me, what to do, what to change, how to snap, to snap better. Play Nice – Advice :c) Thanks all for reading and thanks even more for maybe even reacting. Best wishes from Vienna, Giovanna

Hi! I have recently taken some awesome shots of guys doing extreme things on bikes. (My husband is a BMX rider and trainer) I have looked around the web and being in the BMX scene have seen a few mags and shots that other photographers have taken and my shots seem to be just as good. I was wondering whether anyone had some tips as to how to go about selling my images to magazines/organisations for use? I am very new at all this so would welcome any advice. Thanks.
The ice was on the side, I took a few pics and got this :)
Veterinary medicine is the application of medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic principles to companion, domestic, exotic, wildlife, and production animals. Veterinary science is vital to the study and protection of animal production practices, herd health and monitoring the spread of disease. It requires the acquisition and application of scientific knowledge in multiple disciplines and uses technical skills directed at disease prevention in both domestic and wild animals. Veterinary medicine is informally as old as the human/animal bond but in recent years has expanded exponentially because of the availability of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for most species. Animals nowadays often receive advanced medical, dental, and surgical care including insulin injections, root canals, hip replacements, cataract extractions, and pacemakers.
Have no idea why I made this. / Just thaught of it, and then this came along – though it ain’t exactly what I imagined it like, damn my inexperience with PhotoShop. / Maybe there’s a voice inside of me, screaming and pleading for help and acceptance – but meh, no need to go into that. / I know it ain’t the most amazing image ever created or anything like that, but if you could take your time to comment this image (good and/or bad points on it), then I will be greatful of your input.

Attention all Photographers! I am writing an article on the subject of photo sharing sites & would very much appreciate your help in my research for this topic. I’m taking a poll on how many of us have accounts with several other photo sharing or photography related sites, and if you believe you are “addicted to photo sharing” like I am. It will only take a few seconds for you to answer these three one-word-answer questions: 1. How many photo sharing or photo related sites are you a member of? 2. Approximately how much time per week would you say you spend on these sites (combined time rounded up)? eg. 5-hours, 10-hours, 20-hours, 30-hours 3. Do you consider your online photo sharing as “addictive” in nature? (yes or no) PLEASE NOTE: No names will be used in the article – I’m only looking for usage numbers as a data basis for the article. / / Thank you VERY much in advance for your help! Cheers, S. / ___________ Wikipedia Photo sharing is the publishing or transfer of a user’s digital photos online, thus enabling the user to share them with others (whether publicly or privately). This functionality is provided through both websites and applications that facilitate the upload and display of images. The term can also be loosely applied to the use of online photo galleries that are set up and managed by individual users, including photoblogs. The first photo sharing sites originated during the mid to late 1990s primarily from service providing online ordering of prints (photo-finishing), but many more came into being during the early 2000s with the goal of providing permanent and centralized access to a user’s photos, and in some cases video clips too. This has resulted in different approaches to revenue generation and functionality amongst providers. My personal favourite Photo site (and I’ve got memberships with 9), is definitely RedBubble because the talent here is very high, there are no fees to join, you can give and receive peer to peer comments, challenge yourself via groups, create you own professional looking website & the site isn’t riddled with advertising! No other site has all these positive attributes. And the best bonus is that RedBubble allows me to showcase and market my artwork!
