This ladybug is so lazy, she decided to hitch-hike on the back of the butterfly, and just to be safe she´s wearing a helmet. ;-) / The sky and the water is made with Photoshop filters, the rest is from 4 different photos I´ve taken.

The National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire is a living tribute to the people of the last century and to reflect this over the past four years some 40,000 trees have been planted and monuments raised in memory of the armed forces, the Merchant Navy, the Police and Fire Service and the Civil Defence. Among the Veterans who have plots at the site are those linked to Dunkirk (the pictured helmet and rifle), Burma and Normandy Campaigns. The project also includes a Visitor Centre and the Millennium Chapel of Peace and Forgiveness which is the only one of its kind to be built to celebrate peace in the new millennium and reflect on previous conflict. The Chapel is the only place within the United Kingdom where the Act of Remembrance is observed on every day of the year. Visitors to the Chapel and surrounding areas are invited to stop in silence at 11am to remember those who have lost their lives in conflict.
Medium: Acrylic and Watercolour Paint on Paper / Size: A4 / Description: About an octopus who has developed a suit so that he may walk with the humans. A piece to fulfill my curiosity with octopuses and old looking diving helmets. The character’s odd infatuation with the human race mirrors my own with his species. Completed in 2008. With the global economy caught in the gravity of the financial crisis, it’s sad that programs like the Constellation Project will have a long wait before anything truly gets off the ground. / / NASA’s Constellation Project is set up to finish the International Space Station, retire the Shuttle Fleet and build a whole new fleet of space vehicles which will take us back to the Moon, then Mars and then the places beyond. / / But with Congressional limitations and funding cutbacks due to the financial crisis, as well as being stuck with a complicated and restrictive “go as you pay” finance structure it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing any groundbreaking manned space flights in the naughties. / / This image represents a fleeting memory of a childhood dream to see man explore our planets and then the stars beyond and it’s one of the few things as a child I looked up to America for. / / The universe is a big place and we’re yet to make it out of our solar system but without programs like the Constellation Project, man may never ever get to make another giant leap. / / DETAIL / / / /

16×20 acrylic on canvas panel Kim Turner put a link to Enchanted doll awhile back on one of her works, and opened a can of worms for me. I am in love with these dolls and want to paint them all. The face in this is highly influenced by one of Marina’s dolls. Everything else just happened and when I realized I would have her finished on this powerful 11:11 I knew she carried that energy Featured in / Gatekeeper Detail /
