This is in my backyard, a while ago, before the foxes got my chooks. Next doors horse ‘Shaka’ was always interested in the scraps I threw out for them. Now, there’s no chooks and no Shaka either. / Done in watercolour pencils on grey mat board. Approx size – 28cm x 40cm. 2003. Sold
First commission for this year. Colour pencil and white gouache on grey mount board. Size – A4. 2008 Has been featured in ‘Pencil Drawing’ group.
This was a commission from friends to be a wedding present for their daughter. Its a painting of their driveway on their property which has been in the family a long time. The newly weds were moving into one of the two houses on the property and they thought that the painting would make a unique and fitting present. The painting hangs in their house like it has always meant to be there. / Acrylic on canvas board. 50cm x 70cm. 2007 Commission. Has been featured in ‘Trees’ group.
Yes, I think I do have a thing for Clydesdales. This one just seemed so content in the late afternoon sun. / Pastel pencil on pastel paper. Size approx A4. 2006. Sold. Has been featured in ‘Creative Cards’ group.
This was a commission from people that used to do my framing. They supplied me with the photos that they had taken themselves, and with some research came up with this. / Colour pencil, white gouache and black ink on mount board. Size – get back to you on that! 2002
By now you would’ve guessed my love of horses! This was a commission of a true gentleman, a Warmblood. He was only a small one apparently for a warmblood, about 16hh! The people who commissioned this had others and they were bigger. / Colour pencil and white gouache on grey mount board. Size – 45cm x 60cm. Has been featured in ‘Equine Art and Photography’ group.
I quite often imagine little unicorns, faerie folk and other such creatures living in quiet places in the garden or under the ferns, by the creek in the bush. No I’m not high! Just have an active imagination is all :) / Colour pencil on dark grey mount board. Size – approx A4 1996 – 97 Sold
My middle son’s dog. A retired racing greyhound. If you want a smile, look at the Heidi movie! http://homepage.mac.com/zzypt/Heidi.mov
A lovely place I stay at every now and then. It has surf, sand dunes, rock pools and a tidal inlet perfect for children and doggies to swim in. I mainly wanted to capture the brilliant colours, the mesmerizing rhythm of the waves, I guess just as I titled it! Anyhow, I dont usually do this sort of subject and I’m not sure how I feel about this piece. / Pastel on white Colorfix paper. 46×67cm 2008 Sold at exhibition 2009.
It’s wet, cold and bleak outside. Perfect for sitting in by the heater and playing with photos of Summer flowers with bright warm colours in ‘Photo Studio’ / Just mucking around…....something different for me.
These two didn’t have names…..just their breeders names. They got called ‘puss’. A lovely Maine Coon and a Siamese. A commission that was a surprise for the clients husband. It was a joy to take the reference photos for this piece, both cats playing away, content, and then the Siamese deciding I had to play too…a game of ‘fetch’ with a shoe lace :) / Colour pencil and white gouache on mat board. 38×48cm 2004 Featured in ‘Domestic and Pedigree Cats’, ‘Coloured Pencil Art’ and ‘Cats and Dogs’ groups.
This is a detail shot of a commissioned portrait of “Ki’. This lovely 3yo girl was lost to cancer much to the sorrow of her owner, who did everything she could to give Ki a great life. The day we went out for the photo shoot Ki was so happy and full of life, playing fetch in the park with us. Ki was the perfect model, providing me with beautiful photos to work with. The presentation of the portrait to the owner was emotional indeed. / Colour pencil and white gouache on mat board. 25×36cm 2008 Has been featured in the ‘Cats and Dogs’, Pencil Drawing’ and ‘Painted Dogs’ groups.
This is a commission for a good friend of mine. She is very much into angels and wanted one from me. I felt this was perfect for her, as, like a lot of us, she sometimes needs a spell of light and colour cast on her :) / Derwent and Prismacolor pencils and white gouache. A4 2008 Sold Has been featured in ‘Coloured Pencil Art’ group
An acrylic painting I started many years ago and decided to finally finish it. To me its so-so, seems to be lacking. No reference photos for this one, just my imagination. / Acrylic on canvas board 51×76cm. 2008 Sold Update: Now that I have it framed it has changed the whole picture….finished it. I am really happy with it, amazing what a frame can do :)
This was a fun one for me to do. I started off with the traditional pastels on a brown mat board, but it didnt feel right. I wanted to try something different, so I started again using acrylic paint and finishing with pastels. An effect I really like :) / Acrylic paint and soft pastels on mat board. 29×54cm. 2008. Sold at exhibition….the first time it was shown! 2008 Featured in ‘Painters in Modern Times’ group.

Once again I have used my own horse as a model for this. Although she looks absolutely nothing like it. She is a black standardbred and this one looks more like a liver chestnut quarter horse x. But the photo I used had the angle and lighting I was looking for and then I just used my artists license with the rest! Acrylic on canvas board 40.6×50.8cm 2008 Sold at ‘Different Voices’ exhibition, Oct 2009.
Yep, your typical Bully type dog, stocky and full of comical attitude. And of course, loyal as! :) / A4 commissioned portrait, Derwent colour pencil, white gouache and black ink on mat board. 2008 Has been featured in ‘Pencil Drawing’, ‘Painted Dogs’ and ‘Cats and Dogs’ groups.
This is Shifty’s partner in crime :) A Rotty that is such a gentleman, but still plenty of character to him. A4 portrait done in Derwent pencil, white gouache and black ink on mat board. Commissioned. 2008 Has been featured in ‘Cats and Dogs’ and ‘Painted Dogs’ groups.
My 1st painting for 2009. An acrylic on canvas board, I wanted to experiment with borders on this. The result is surprising and I will probably try it with others :) The scene is morning light filtering through the trees in Boolarra where I live. Beautiful green countryside of rolling hills and dense bushland. 46×61cm. 2009 Awarded ‘Highly Commended’ at the Mirboo North Art Show 2009. For sale. Has been featured in ‘Landscape Painting’ and ‘Creative Cards’ groups.
