Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square PA This was taken just inside the front entrance.
A second landscape from the Mowsley/Laughton area of Leicestershire, UK. This image was featured as image of the day at Fotopic.net on 16th May 2008 / Not long ago, I posted this, below, from a location nearby. I love this land at this time of year. / If you like it and want to buy the pair, click this link to get the second. They look good as a pair on a wall, especially when toplit by a small bulb
Ok, I admit, I made it rain on the poor spider’s home. Not only did I chase it, but I flooded it’s home with water from spray bottle. I couldn’t wait for the real rain to fall, in case the spider’s web disappeared. All I’ve done to the image is brighten it up and place a slight little frame around bottom edge.
They just love their hedges in Belgium… Perfectly manicured hedges. I managed to capture this lone gardener on his way through the maze with classic stone wall buildings as his backdrop.
carefully planted tress, trimmed hedges and angular stone staircase just immediately captured my senses… and makes this Brusells scene a modern day cityscape for me…
Thanks to Marcus Ranum for his wonderful model.
A portrait version of this shot These are 300 year old beach trees and getting to the end of their natural life. When touring around Northern Ireland we were lucky enough to see a couple of photos of this place and eventually managed to find a toutrist info person that knew where they were. So with the sun low in a September sky we headed out and found possibly the most stunning bit of road I have ever been on in my life! Sony Alpha A200 18mm
The Dark Hedges. On a street close to Gracehill Golf Course, south of Ballycastle in Antrim, Northern Ireland. These are 300 year old beach trees and are getting to the end of their natural life span so they wont be around much longer.
Taken in a local area of what I term Pretty Land which has been a happy hunting ground for me over recent years with the camera – lots of paths, gated roads and easy access, with plenty to look at if you can be bothered to take the time – The nearest village is Mowsley. / Most folk miss this area by driving straight through the main road from Market Harborough to Lutterworth, yet either side of them are some of the most wonderful vistas in Leicestershire to photograph in the main light of day as opposed to early or late starts – but you do need a good old out of date OS map to find some of the paths and roads (and more ground clearance than I have under my car for some of them!)
What can I say… I like tinting pics :P
Chateau de Villandry – a 16th century late Renaissance chateau in the Loire Valley, France…..famous for it’s magnificent gardens. The Loire Valley, with a great number of chateaux, is listed with UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. / / This recreated Renaissance garden at Villandry is like a tapestry changing with the seasons. / The gardens are on three levels. At the top, from where this photo is taken, is a water garden fringed with ancient lime trees, then on the next level down, a flower garden level with the chateau and then below that is the world’s largest ornamental kitchen garden. Eight full time gardeners maintain the gardens at Villandry. They raise and plant 60,000 vegetable and 45,000 bedding plants each year. / It truly is a delight to the senses. Back to the Leicester rural landscapes…..... / This was taken near the village of Ashby Magna. My timing could have been better – storm in the morning, sun at lunch, big fluffy clouds early afternoon, grey overcast later, then this. It is the opposite corner of the field in which I took Harvests Final Curtain a few days earlier.
SUN DOWN OVER TREES…...................i know it not the best vantage point, but it is a beautiful sky.this evening at 20.25
Photo taken some years ago on the Lincolnshire Wolds. In the UK, this crop is known as oilseed rape, though it does have other names elsewhere in the world.
decided to draw a background/scene, as i usually don’t do these =)...
This is a corner of my garden in Autumn. / /
Victorian houses line up in a San Francisco street – USA, 2009
I had started with a pencil drawing on paper then transferred it to aceate. Painted acetate and then Ink jet printed on to coloured paper. I then melted embossing powder for the Southern Cross ( a constellation only found in Australia!) and the moon. It is a night scene in one of my favourite settings – a formal garden with a hedge maze! Prints of this will available at my February 2009 Solo art show. (see my journal for details).
