The magical confines of Antelope Canyon awash in light from above. This slot canyon is a marvel of sandstone curves and erosion.
This is my entry for the Photoshop Creative competition / Digital Mixed Media. Mostly done in Photoshop CS2. A touch of Corel Painter and Apophysis 2.0. This image is composed of digital painting, a few fractals, and several photographs added for texture. I hope you all like it because I’ve been working on it for most of this week :). / This is the first I’ve completed in a new series: The Elijah Series. This image represents the chariot of fire. You can read about it here: 2 Kings 2:7-12. There is so much going on in this image so I’ll help you out: The Chariot driven by some sort of Angelic being is in the center of the image while the horses of fire are at the bottom, very front of the image. The blazing light of Heaven is in the very back. Basically, the sky has opened up and the Chariot of Fire is coming down from Heaven to separate Elisha and Elijah. The whirlwind that takes Elijah up into Heaven will be the next image I do in this series. Thank you for looking!
A funny thing happened on the way to Mt. Rainier well before sunrise. I noticed the morning mist rising over Clear Lake and the cirrus clouds fanning out above them and decided that a glorious sunrise on the lake was worth more than a maybe on the mountain. I fumbled my way in the dark via flashlight to the lakes edge and had time to search for composition before the heavens lit up. Not a bad way to start a day at all.

I’m really glad I was able to complete this image. It’s one I’ve been working on for quite some time now and almost scrapped it a number of times. I actually made the decision to trash this and I’d begun working on a new piece but I couldn’t move on until this one was finished. So I went back to it and all of a sudden it just started working for me seemingly out of nowhere. It’s ironic that the decision to scrap the work was all I needed to fuse my brain into making it work. art plays little tricks on me sometimes. :)

I had an opportunity that I clearly used to my advantage…...while up at Lake Nora over the weekend, a dragonfly in distress and nearly dead happened my way; he spent the good part of an hour letting me photograph him before he gathered up enough strength and then flew off, only to land about 10 feet from me, but out in the water…........I made a wish for him and I know his spirit is watching over all the others as they diligently go about their designated tasks…...I had a very good feeling though as if he was put right there in front of me for this reason…......I got quite a few shots of his entirety, but I enjoy this one more…........ / ______ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. Coastal Mantra Series- Flying Meditation has been nominated for the prestigious Pay it Forward Group by Kellie Cranmer of Kcranmer Art Kellies quote to the group in submitting this image was: ”I chose this image because of the simple beauty it brings. Sometimes you can get the best impact by a bird flying…as nature would intend it to do…and Lina captured it so beautifully!! Also…Lina is one amazing soul. She is the type to care for others before herself (I feel that in her so much)...so it is my honor to nominate my friend Lina to the Pay it Forward…You deserve it girl and so much more!!! xoxoxoxox” I am completely honored. Taken at Cape Schanck, Victoria. Lawrence Norton (also on Redbubble) and I decided to head down to the cape for a sunrise shoot a few weeks back, and wouldn’t you know it, it was overcast! Not exactly what we had hoped for. But Lawrence in all his optimism, declared “The heavens WILL open up for us!” And sure enough it did, albeit just a little. We’re looking forward to seeing a lot more of these cold, windy, stormy mornings as winter approaches! Shot with a Nikon D200, 12-24mm lens @ 15mm, F/11, ISO 100, polarizer, tripod, cable release. 7 shot HDR plus 2 extra single shot tone mapped images. Merged/mapped in Photomatix, overall blending/levels/saturation/etc in Photoshop. BEST VIEWED LARGER
