The heavy weight. The working horse is always a favorite! Even out of harness you can see their power. This lot look like they’re coming up for a treat. / An original drawing of Clydesdales done in colour pencil and white gouache. Size of original artwork – 55cm x 81cm 2007
I have a lovely black – brown Standardbred mare. Her name is Stirling Moon, but we call her Spot (Spotless) This painting is modeled after her, with a few changes so I was not compelled to keep the painting! / Acrylic on canvas board. Size approx A3 2006. Sold.
An original pastel painting. Original artwork size- 45cm x 67cm. 2007 It seems the larger the animal, the more docile and appealing they are. What would the world be without these magnificent creatures…...great and small! / These two are probably old enough to start training as a team in harness. / Original for sale. Not anymore, the original sold at an exhibition :)
This is my first piece done in the ‘Prismacolour’ brand of colour pencil. All my other pencil pieces have been in Derwents. The subject is a small Rhododendron plant at my studio, a delight to draw and the pencils a delight to use. Done in Prismacolor Premiere pencils on light grey (nearly white) mount board. Size – 30×53cm. 2008 / Won ‘Highly Commended’ at the Frankston Art Show 2008 / Sold at exhibition 2009
A commission I did some time ago as a raffle prize. Wildon Impressive, ‘Imp’, for short, is a lovely Arabian pony stallion. He sure did show off for me on photo day, prancing around, giving me lovely photos to work from. Derwent colour pencils , white gouache and black ink on mat board. 36×45cm. 2006 Featured in ‘Equine Art and Photography’ group.
A lovely place I stay at every now and then. It has surf, sand dunes, rock pools and a tidal inlet perfect for children and doggies to swim in. I mainly wanted to capture the brilliant colours, the mesmerizing rhythm of the waves, I guess just as I titled it! Anyhow, I dont usually do this sort of subject and I’m not sure how I feel about this piece. / Pastel on white Colorfix paper. 46×67cm 2008 Sold at exhibition 2009.
This piece started out to be twice the size it ended up. It was going to be a more traditional style painting. But as it developed it became clear to me that this was all it needed. This was how it was meant to be. The picture sold at the first exhibition I entered it into. It sold to a lady who had recently lost her husband (I rang her and spoke to her) She knew she had to have it, it was meant for her…..and her husband. / Pastel on mat board. size – 24×70cm 2008 Sold.
Once again I have used my own horse as a model for this. Although she looks absolutely nothing like it. She is a black standardbred and this one looks more like a liver chestnut quarter horse x. But the photo I used had the angle and lighting I was looking for and then I just used my artists license with the rest! Acrylic on canvas board 40.6×50.8cm 2008 Original for sale.
An acrylic painting I started many years ago and decided to finally finish it. To me its so-so, seems to be lacking. No reference photos for this one, just my imagination. / Acrylic on canvas board 51×76cm. 2008 Sold Update: Now that I have it framed it has changed the whole picture….finished it. I am really happy with it, amazing what a frame can do :)
Yep, your typical Bully type dog, stocky and full of comical attitude. And of course, loyal as! :) / A4 commissioned portrait, Derwent colour pencil, white gouache and black ink on mat board. 2008
This was a fun one for me to do. I started off with the traditional pastels on a brown mat board, but it didnt feel right. I wanted to try something different, so I started again using acrylic paint and finishing with pastels. An effect I really like :) / Acrylic paint and soft pastels on mat board. 29×54cm. 2008. Sold at exhibition….the first time it was shown! 2008
These two didn’t have names…..just their breeders names. They got called ‘puss’. A lovely Maine Coon and a Siamese. A commission that was a surprise for the clients husband. It was a joy to take the reference photos for this piece, both cats playing away, content, and then the Siamese deciding I had to play too…a game of ‘fetch’ with a shoe lace :) / Colour pencil and white gouache on mat board. 38×48cm 2004
It’s wet, cold and bleak outside. Perfect for sitting in by the heater and playing with photos of Summer flowers with bright warm colours in ‘Photo Studio’ / Just mucking around…....something different for me.
Ornamental grass in my backyard. Photography.
A variety of mediums, subjects, time and styles.
The tide’s going out exposing all the strange formations of the rock pools. The sunset lighting gave the scene that ‘other worldly’ look.
This is Shifty’s partner in crime :) A Rotty that is such a gentleman, but still plenty of character to him. A4 portrait done in Derwent pencil, white gouache and black ink on mat board. Commissioned. 2008
A dune reflects in the calm water at the mouth of Powlett River. On the other side of the dunes the surf thunders.
It is Autumn here at my studio and the trees are all turning brilliant shades of gold, orange and red. I couldn’t resist lying on Earth under this beauty and trying to capture the warmth of it all! :) / Photo using Canon Ixus 700
Another photo of that huge bon fire.
I did this painting a few years ago. It is symbolic for me in many ways. The photo I used I took along the M1 in East Gippsland coming home from holidays. I snapped it out the car window as we were traveling along, with telegraph poles wires and all. Of course I used my Artists License and removed the poles and wires for my painting! Acrylic paint on canvas board. 60×75cm. 1997 Sold
One of the many commissioned animal portraits that I have recently done. I dont usually upload the commissioned works as they are not for sale. / Colour pencil, black ink and white gouache on mat board. size – A4 2008
A surprise Christmas pressie for Mick from his wife and kids. Yes he WAS surprised! The Chev 36 he still owns, although not quite in such a finished and gleaming condition, and the FX Mick had to sell in order to get the money to finish building his house. Done in colour pencil, white gouache and black ink on mat board. 38×54cm 2008 Commission
Out for a walk, always with my camera as there is always something to photograph. This time of year seems to turn yellow with the wattle in full flower.
