Its a little 80’s in its styling, but hey…thats what all the cool kids are wearing these days! hehe… *Contains one part hearse and a second part Hirst…and voila! Besides the big DH has such an obsession with death i’m surprised he hasn’t made one of these himself.
A super old graveyard with some fantastic ol trees right beside a castle in England… I took this on holiday so I cant remember where it was :-) Featured on Redbubble Homepage / Featured in Amazing Graves
Another shot of the hearse decorated with skeletons this being the dashboard ornament of choice. And I fell under their spell and was inspired to put find the right music to set the mood. SCREAMIN’ JAY HAWKINS – I Put A Spell On You Mount Dora, FL Leica V-Lux 1 /

Inspired By Funeral Advertising: “The Funeral Director” was inspired by the unusual and quite often eerie advertising employed by mortuaries to sell death. These selling strategies often incorporate vintage images of past undertakers who have long since died themselves. To add to this morbidity, some of these death adverts go as far as to list the death year of these particular directors. [Leading Soundtrack During Creation: Alkaline Trio – Agony & Irony]

Wood cut print on rice paper. Original artwork approximately 18” by 24”. Part of a series, life on wheels, done for a senior show at Cal Poly Pomona (California) in May 2008. Even at the end of life wheels have a part of our lives: gurneys and hearses! The 1954 hearse is a ‘wink’ to me as I was born in 1954.

Happened upon a random funeral procession of someone of importance. This was back in 2003, I don’t recall who it was. This is from 2003 when i attended Focal Point – school of Visual Arts. Originally shot with Tungsten film, processed into slides. / Minolta 7000i, AF 28-85 Just came across my slides the other day and tried to scan them. That didn’t work . . so i put my digital Sony DHC-H10 on the tripod, with bright light against a white wall . . .on macro setting (since the pic in the slide is about the size of my thumb). / This was the result.

The first Tuesday in November. For Australians, it’s a horse race. For Americans, it’s an election. / Vote, and vote early, the candidates cry. But as the citizens of a certain Melbourne suburb discovered many years ago, it’s sometimes the late voters who really make the decision: Electoral fraud in Richmond took two basic forms. The first was good old-fashioned multiple voting. This involved the impersonation of individuals whose names were on the electoral rolls, but who for various reasons, such as the fact that they had died or had moved away from the municipality some years before, were disinclined to vote.

Slow food is back in vogue. Many slow things are returning. Will we see a regular return of the horse drawn hearse? Seen on the streets of Newtown, Sydney in October 2008.
this looks incredibly morbid at first glance (I assure you the body is not real) There is a car club that fixes up old hearses in our area and a few members stage these little scenes when they display their cars. :)
