  • Enjoy Aspartame / Ingestion may cause cause headaches, muscle pain, dizziness, / memory loss, diarrhea, fatigue, vomiting and more. An ingredient in diet coke and many other artificially sweetened products, aspartame is surrounded by controversy. There are programs for people who are heavily addicted to diet drinks, and multitudes of reports by doctors and toxicology experts detailing the negative effects of aspartame on the body. Loads of people get really sick from the stuff, and apparently the way it got approved for use is extremely shady as well, with the scientist doing the toxicology approval being paid $1000 per day on a ten year contract. Also this from a redbubbler.

  • An outside shot of the structure known locally as “Castle on the Hill” “Castle on the Hill—a former water cure facility that resembles a castle overlooking Dansville from the hillside. Founded in 1858 by Dr. James Caleb Jackson as the “Our Home on the Hillside”, the original building burned in 1882. The present building opened in 1883” -quote from wikipedia Dansville, NY / Nikon D80 ~ 18-135mm ~ ISO100 / 3 shot HDR N 42° 34’ 6.34” / W 77° 41’ 23.17”

  • “Made a scene, week to week, / Day to day, hour to hour, / The gate is straight, deep and wide, / Break on through to the other side” / ~The Doors As the burning pain soared through his cut and bloodied hands, he realized - too late - that he should have taken his medication instead of hiding it, because no matter how many panes he broke, he was unable to fit through any of the door’s openings… Apparently this was vandalism and not really a former patient making a futile attempt to escape the now abandoned and reputedly haunted Manteno Mental Health Facility. I shot this photo during a recent daytime walk-through, in preparation for a future nighttime visit.

A while ago there was a programme on the radio about homelessness, and one of the people featured was a man in his 30’s or 40’s who had been an architect, running his own business. One morning his wife and two small children were killed in a car accident. His life collapsed and he ended up homeless, living on the streets and, like so many, experiencing chronic alcohol problems. I don’t know what happened to him.

  • During the winter time I get a little blue and need a pick me up. In addition to adding natural sunlight bulbs I’ve decided to paint a flower a day until spring and summer return. This is my proactive way of dealing with winter blues also called Seasonal Affective Disorder. Crayola Flowers was created by layering Crayola crayons and markers on medium tooth paper. To bring the flowers out I used white and yellow acrylic paints. Thanks for visiting my Flower A Day Project. / F. Magdalene Austin
