  • been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.

  • “Your faith has made you well.” / Anyone with a disease longs to hear these words. / (Digital Mixed Media)

  • My daughter about 6 month old.

  • Health and Safety Madness / What’s happening to the world? It’s getting to the point where you’ll need a risk assesor, paramedic, fireman, police officer and the obligatory solicitor in attendance before you can let your kids play in a public park. Councils and local government are so worried about legal proceedings, health and safety madness has taken over. What’s happened to the time when accidents were just accidents?

  • FEATURED! JUNE 08 / HOMEPAGE! JULY 08 “I am ready for whatever’s coming. I expect nothing but to be let down or turned away. I am alone. The shit hurts sometimes, but I realize what I am, what I have become. The alien man waved his arms up and down and noticed that he couldn’t wave in the right language so he stopped.” Henry Rollins

  • The grand staircase, this time shot with only available light/mirk for a more unsettling ‘Silent Hill’ look. Just a little light tone mapping to avoid burn-out and retain shadow detail, otherwise this is all natural – including the small scrap of very blue wallpaper in the bottom left.

  • I love to dance so these boogey-woogey bluebirds are right up my alley! They were really cutting the rug this morning on the nesting box. I’d like to dedicate this image to Mrs. Claire LeBauve who passed away recently. She was a cracker jack dancer who lit up the room when she stepped onto the dance floor. Like her family, I truly believe she’s dancing in heaven and still sharing her deep-dimpled smile and her joy with everyone around her. Laissez les bon temps rouler, Ms. Claire! (I think she’d approve of the quote I added; a little bit of craziness never hurt anyone!) For the rest of the story, please see the accompanying Journal Entry

  • In remote villages in the mountains of northern Thailand, the children in some ethnic groups including Karen Pwo, smoked rough tobacco cheroots and pipes. When schools were established in the 1980s, the practice declined. The parents, also avid smokers and betel chewers, had no idea that smoking was bad for their children’s health. Taken in the early 1980’s with a Nikon FM2, Nikkor 28mm lense and kodachrome slide film. Natural light.

  • Today I celebrate the beauty of two lovely breasts / breasts that rise and fall with each breath I take. Beneath them lie my heart and very soul / which they surround and keep safe. I nestle them in delicate lace and smooth satin / and anoint them with soothing oils. No longer do I wish them larger or smaller / or anything other than how they are now. They are the beauty of my womanhood / myself as nurturer and lover and friend. My breasts are not who I am but a sacred part of me / and today I celebrate their beauty. And I invite you to celebrate yours too: / Get a mammogram this month xoxo In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month/October 2009
