  • And what a beautiful state of the art facility it is. As the sunrises, the traditional space-age classic moghul architecture compliments the towering megatropolis skyline of the vast and beautiful Lahore Skycity. This is one of Earth’s most beautiful cities and if I had to choose personally what could be one of the best places for the new headquarters buildings I would also gladly choose Lahore Skycity. -

  • Union Colonel Johnson looks down to the Valley below, as his troops secure the perimeter for the ensuing night. The last days’ battles resulted in significant casualties on both sides. Col. Johnson settles down at his field desk to write the following report: / / “Headquarters Couch’s Division,”Williamsburg, Va., May 8, 1862. “Sir, I have the honor to report that at 1 o’clock P.M., of May 5, the head of my Division, consisting of Peck’s Brigade only, arrived on the ground in rear of the center of our line of battle, and was by direction of General Keyes, posted by me supporting him, he being fiercely engaged. Peck soon moved forward, and for an hour and a half was opposed by nearly the whole of the enemy’s disposable force in front, covered the assaults of their infantry and cavalry, / but the determined courage of this Fort Magruder, distant 400 to 600 yards, with its plunging fire of shells and grape gallant officer and the steadiness of his brigade foiled all attempts to drive him from the ground. “The left of the 55th New York was twice forced back, but the 93rd Pennsylvania and the 72nd New York Volunteers, coming up furiously, recovered the space lost. *There was very little faltering, and I beg to say to the General / commanding that I want no higher earthly honor than to be the Commander of the First Division of this Corp. *The list of casualties were: Peck’s Brigade, killed, 18; wounded, 81; missing, 26. • When the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta constructed Valletta (the capital of Malta) in the 16th century, they built these edifices in order to house those knights with no homes of their own in Malta, and to put up visiting dignitaries in the style to which they were accustomed. Almost every langue of the order had its own auberge, and the knights of each one were entrusted with the defence of a particular section of the bastions which surround the city. This auberge housed the knights of Castille, Leon and Portugal, was finished in 1574 and remodelled in the 18th century. It next served as the headquarters first of the French military, then of the British army in Malta, and today is the office of the Prime Minister. Fujifilm F50fd.

  • For affordable canvas prints please                     click here / City Hall is the headquarters of the Greater London Authority which comprises the Mayor of London and London Assembly. It is located in Southwark, stands on the south bank of the River Thames near Tower Bridge. Designed by Norman Foster, it opened in July 2002. The building has an unusual bulbous shape, intended to reduce its surface area and thus improve energy efficiency. It has been compared variously to Darth Vader’s helmet, a misshapen egg, a human scrotum, a woodlouse or a motorcycle helmet. Former mayor Ken Livingstone referred to it as a “glass testicle”. The new mayor, Boris Johnson, has referred to it more politely as ‘The Onion’. Its designers reportedly saw the building as a giant sphere hanging over the Thames, but opted for a more conventionally rooted building instead. It has no front or back on conventional terms but derives its shape from a modified sphere. City Hall forms part of a larger development called More London, including offices and shops. Next to City Hall is a sunken amphitheatre called The Scoop, which is used in the summer months for open-air performances. The Scoop and surrounding landscape were designed by Townshend Landscape Architects. A 500-metre (1,640 ft) helical walkway ascends the full height of the building. At the top of the ten-story building is an exhibition and meeting space called “London’s Living Room”, with an open viewing deck which is occasionally open to the public. The walkway provides views of the interior of the building, and is intended to symbolise transparency.

  • Old San Juan Puerto Rico .. this place has such a great history .. so much beauty to see. and just to walk is such a pleasure. Walking westward from the marina, past Plaza de Hostos is San Juan’s most beautiful promenade, El Paseo de la Princesa. Originally created in 1853, the Paseo has been recently restored to its 19th century splendor. This broad brick boardwalk, enjoyed in the Spanish Colonial era by members of the gentry, now leads its visitors through a pleasant palm-lined paseo and sculptural showcase, into various gardens, and even a small restaurant. Midway through the walkway you’ll find the headquarters of Puerto Rico’s Tourism Company. Inaugurated in 1837 and known simply as ‘La Princesa’, this building served as provincial prison to over 200 inmates at any given time. Now restored, ‘La Princesa’ also houses exhibits of Puerto Rican art inside its mahogany doors and remarkable arcades. Grab a ‘piragua,’ a shaved-ice treat made with tropical fruit syrups and full of local flavor, before heading west to the end of the paseo’s main boardwalk. Here stands the Raíces or Roots Fountain, sculpted by Spanish artist Luis Sanguino. This magnificent bronze fountain celebrates Puerto Rico’s rich cultural diversity and historical heritage through representations of Amerindian, African, and Spanish peoples. Enjoy the lovely views of San Juan Bay as you continue your stroll, following the city wall until you reach La Puerta de San Juan* Video and map here on this place

The young, 22 year old, Washington commanded 150 men from this location, during the French and Indian War. This historic treasure is located in Riverside Park, at the point where Wills Creek feeds into the north branch of the Potomac River. Riverside Park is a Cumberland City Park, operated in conjunction with Cumberland Garden Club. It is on the Maryland side of the bridge to Ridgeley, West Virginia. This photo was captured with a Canon EOS 10D camera with a Canon EF 28-70mm f/2.8L Macro lens at 28mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/90th sec at f/8. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. • The Benjamin Ring House On the eve of the Battle of Brandywine Washington established his headquarters in the farmhouse of Benjamin Ring, a Quaker farmer and miller. The house stood within easy access of Chadds Ford where the British were expected to cross the river. Washington held a council of war with his generals in the Ring house on September 9th to plan his strategy. The Battle of Brandywine brings to life the largest engagement of the Revolutionary War, fought on September 11, 1777, between the Continental Army led by General George Washington and the British forces headed by General William Howe.
