I was comming back from breakfast in the village where I live when I saw this scene ,I stoped ,couldn’t beleive that I wasn’t able to see on the other side of the lake.Heavy fog and soft light gave me the opportunity to do this image,I just love it ,makes me think of an old painting.If you look carefully ,you will see the other side’s shadow.The reflection was great because there were no fog in front of me just on the other side.A very foggy sunrise it was.When I did this shot it thought about «Water world» and how our the planet is beautiful even with a little piece of land. / / / /

I used to go with my mother at Point-au-Père along the St-Lawrence river just for evening and night before reaching Grand-Anse,New-Brunswich, the village where she grew up.I had long walks on those rocs when I was very young,when I saw the little church it all came back to me.I saw myself with my little sister Maryse and my brother Peter picking up rocs and shells and the sun was going down,I was 14 years old…souvenir …souvenir…..an untouched shot. / Better view larger. / Two world challenge:personnal and history / /

Moffat Headland Moonrise (Caloundra). This was the night of the recent eclipse. I was hoping to get some colours of the sunset coinciding with the moonrise but the clouds wouldn’t co-operate. I was happy though with the soft glow effect.

I took this photo while vacationing on the Gold Coast. This is a lovely little headland called Fingal Head. A cute little lighthouse sits on top of the headland and keeps watch over the ocean. The light you see in the sky is actually the moon (blown out) and the bright star to the right is Venus.

Birkenhead Priory was founded about 1150 for the Benedictines and is the oldest standing building on Merseyside. Parts of the site are listed buildings of Grade I and II and the priory is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument. / / In 1317 the monks from Birkenhead Priory were granted ferry rights by Edward II. This allowed them to build a house in what is now Water Street to store their corn. The house was also used by travellers for shelter if the weather was too bad for the ferry to cross the River Mersey. / / The priory’s chapter house is consecrated as an Anglican church, with a chapel dedicated to the training ship HMS Conway. There is also a museum detailing the history of the site. / / St Mary’s Tower was originally part of Birkenhead’s first parish church, opened in 1821 in the grounds of the priory. / / Redevelopment of the area from 1925 resulted in a large number of residential housing within the parish being cleared to make way for the construction of the first Mersey Tunnel. An expansion of the Number 5 dry dock at the adjacent Cammell Laird shipyard in the 1960’s resulted in the church losing a significant portion of its graveyard. Subsequent redevelopment of the approach roads to the Mersey Tunnel effectively cut off the church from most of what remained of its parish, further dwindling the congregation. / / St. Mary’s Church closed in 1974 and was partly demolished a year later, for reasons of safety. Only the former church tower and parts of the outer walls were retained in situ. Dawn at Fishermans Beach at Long Reef on Sydney’s northern beaches. This was a 30sec exposure about 45 minutes before sunrise giving a soft silky look to the ocean.
