by Juilee Pryorhaving given myself the afternoon to spend with redbubble I’ve decided to post a wildcard image into the fashion competion. Originally shot on velvia in available light and if you look really closely the model has a camera in her crotch. :) / This is a companion image to “Bloom” these look really good framed. hint hint :)

This is another case of right place right time. I normally check the tides to see where they will be at sunrise and sunset, but as my fiance and I were staying near Geelong for a few days, I didn’t bring a tide chart with me and so I had to take guesses as to where it would likely be. Anyway, at the last minute I decided to head down to Point Lonsdale to take a few shots of the lighthouse and to my delight the tide was out and slowly creeping in. By the time I finished shooting, I was walking through water to get back to the shore.

Taken a few miles east of Leicester, near Allexton. Its that time in the UK, just before the wheat gets harvested – heavy heads beginning to nod gently under the weight of the grain, and the weather unable to decide whether it is summer or not, threatening to flatten the crop, just it is ready. Leicestershire is full of distant horizons like this, and the Barley is all but in now, much of the ground already having been put under the plough in readiness for the next crop.

Morning Light World English Bible / Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. From the ‘Connection Series’, this is a pencil drawing, coloured with aquacolour crayons on paper… i have played around with this quite a bit in photoshop also, applying layers and more colour to enrich the overall look When i ponder this, it gives me a feeling of hope, like after the mourning, there is morning and the sun comes out again….. It’s all about our connection with nature and other lofty things :)

This is my favorite lighthouse because it represents a personal victory for me. At 93 feet high, Yaquina Head is Oregon’s tallest lighthouse, and a real beauty. It’s fully operational and sends out its light twenty four hours a day, every day, since 1873. If you are a lighthouse buff, be sure to climb the steps and view the first order Fresnel lens. Cee MY CONNECTION WITH THIS LIGHTHOUSE: I first saw Yaquina Head in 2004. We were taking a road trip – our first vacation in many years—out to see Oregon and the redwoods for the first time. I was alive, and celebrating my life. Two years before I had been in a long coma, on a ventilator and near death for four months. When I finally woke up, I had to learn many things over again… how to wash my face, brush my teeth, feed myself. Eventually I learned to walk again. When I saw this lighthouse I knew I wanted to see it from the inside, and from the top, looking out to the ocean. I climbed all those narrow, spiral steps to the lens room at a time in my life when it was still difficult to get in and out of the car, let alone climb a nine story lighthouse. The evening of the 12th of August 2009, a string of storms from the Gold Coast to Gympie in South East Queensland, many cells with hail. Luckily for us, there was no hail, but the light show was wonderful. This shot, a 30 second exposure, caught 3 separate lightning strikes, and the one to the left of the shot, I think was 3 or more strikes in quick succession. The others up at the lookout at the time even said to me “WOW Did you get that???”.. It was quite blinding and long. Laguna Lookout, Noosa Heads, overlooking Noosaville and Tewantin. The Noosa River can be seen to the right. Mount Cooroy in the middle of the shot. Canon 5D Mk II, 50mm, 16:9 Crop. Available Large, and best viewed Large of course!

At 93 feet high, Yaquina Head Lighthouse is Oregon’s tallest lighthouse. The tower, made from 370,000 bricks from San Francisco, is double walled for insulation and dampness protection. One story, which has circulated for years, tells of a workman falling from the scaffolding into the hallow between the masonry walls where his body could not be retrieved. A fine story, and perhaps an explanation for the station’s purported ghost, but records show no workers were killed during construction. Strong winds did blow one worker off the cliff. Amazingly, his oils skins acted somewhat like a parachute and he only received minor injuries. The lighting of the first order Fresnel lens was delayed due to parts of the lantern somehow being lost in transit. Finally, after almost two years of toil, the light shone for the first time on August 20, 1873.
