The light was changing every minute. I climbed over some huge rocks to get into a great position to take some surfing shots, when suddenly this huge cloud covered up the sun. Suddenly the beautiful light illuminating the waves the surfers were riding was gone. I looked to my left and noticed the light here. Quickly, I grabbed my stuff and setup this shot…..only got one frame, because soon after this the light here was also gone. Taken at Norah Head, two hours north of Sydney on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Beautiful little place =) the lighthouse there is too cute.

The clouds were dancing around the lighthouse, and I just kept snapping away! Imagine the foghorns sounding the buoys clanging, the fog coming in and the waves crashing against the rocks! About An OK sunset with some nice blue hour love. High tide was at 5.54pm, sunset about 6pm – so the waves were coming in hard. I was surprised by the surfers paddling out at dusk, but the waves were 1 -2 metres, sometimes even 3 metres – awesome. - ISO 100, f22, 30secs, 10mm / - Sigma 10-20mm / - Cokin Grad 4 (P121M) Processing 1) Import into Lightroom as RAW / a) Curves / b) Soft Light Layer in Photoshop / c) Recovery / d) Grad filters to bring out the sky / e) Slight Crop / 2) Export using Flickr Uploader and LR2/Mogrify plugin
Right place, right time for this shot! Wanted to shoot the Devils Kitchen in the Noosa Heads National Park, but the sky didn’t agree with landscape photography on this afternoon. Hanging around shooting my favorite subjest, eagles, this offshore rainstorm came rolling in. The setting sun came out, and supplied this wonderful scene! By far the most illuminated rainbow I have ever seen, it was so bright.. Canon 50D, 10mm, Available Large, and definately best viewed Large! Noosa Heads National Park, Queensland, Australia.
This old tree was perched right on the edge of the cliff face at “The Devils Kitchen” in Noosa National Park, Queensland, Australia. Taken on the same day as Dramatic Nature looking further North about 30 minutes from sunset. Canon 50D, 10mm, slight cropping.. Available Large, and best viewed Large!
As I was taking a few shots of this beautiful scenery in the vertical format, this beautiful Australasian Gannet flew right past me. I could have almost stuck my hand out and touched him, incredable experience! I guess he didn’t see me, as I was on the edge of the cliff with a shrub to my left. I’m glad I was shooting when he flew past, and on the +-0 stop frame too!! Canon 50D, 10mm. Devils Kitchen, Noosa Heads National Park, Queensland, Australia. Bird is an Australasian Gannet, these beautiful coastal birds are a bird of prey, and dive sometimes from large heights for school bait fish.
Mr Weatherman forecast rain for the next 7 days. Not taking his advice i decided to try my luck out yesterday morning. Well there wasn’t any light, but also no rain, so that’s a bonus! Only a small exposure adjustment needed in post for this one. I’m loving my 50D.
I know not many people find this beach in Noosa Heads National Park, Queensland, Australia. Every time I visit here, there is not one footprint on the beach. This is the same beach as The Immortal Soldier image, shot on the same day. The unused path that leads to this beach is hard to find, and the incline can be up to 80%, and very slippery. Sometimes sliding is the best way down :) I can sit here for hours, it’s so tranquil and unspoilt. Canon 50D, 10mm, 16:9 crop. Available Large and best viewed Large!
Sun Storm was shot at the same location and on the same shoot as Storm Passing Crescent. The light was sensational. The passing storm had been replaced by bright sunshine as the foreboding clouds hung offshore and contemplated where to dump next. On reflection, I could have gone up to f8 and sped up the shot, and perhaps should have. Lesson learnt by the end of the 6 day shoot. Going to do a series of the Noosa National Park in Queensland. This place is totally beautiful, and so natural! The park is loaded with hiking tracks, with some unmarked and quite rugged. I can’t think of anything better than being alone and at one with nature in it’s purest form. This rock pool, not easily accessable as it took about 20 minutes of rock jumping and some climbing. I find the best places are where no one can easily access :) Noosa National Park, Noosa Heads, Queensland, Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm. Available Large and best viewed Large!
At 93 feet high, Yaquina Head Lighthouse is Oregon’s tallest lighthouse. The tower, made from 370,000 bricks from San Francisco, is double walled for insulation and dampness protection. One story, which has circulated for years, tells of a workman falling from the scaffolding into the hallow between the masonry walls where his body could not be retrieved. A fine story, and perhaps an explanation for the station’s purported ghost, but records show no workers were killed during construction. Strong winds did blow one worker off the cliff. Amazingly, his oils skins acted somewhat like a parachute and he only received minor injuries. The lighting of the first order Fresnel lens was delayed due to parts of the lantern somehow being lost in transit. Finally, after almost two years of toil, the light shone for the first time on August 20, 1873. The beautiful Granite Bay in Noosa National Park. The more I visit this place, the more I fall in love with the area. There is always birds flying around, beautiful rock pools, just waiting to be discovered.
