Another experiment, just going outside of what I know and playing with some different ways of creating my works. Thanks for viewing.
as is… / this was a lucky shot . I was shooting flowers when I saw this grasshopper standing on a basketball base and gave it a try without changing my camera settings, to be sure not to miss it (yes, I quite often scare them ! lol) / I liked the dof and how it peeks out of the smooth and light surrounding. / and how curious this little cutie looks ^^ / so here it is =)

Acrylic On Canvas What if you woke up one day and to your amazement found a tree with all your favourite things growing on your head? It did happen to one girl whose name was Christabel…some said she became a tree eventually….and if you ever see a tree growing with teacups and music notes, that’s her :D / / I have also uploaded another image of this
Morning Light World English Bible / Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. From the ‘Connection Series’, this is a pencil drawing, coloured with aquacolour crayons on paper… i have played around with this quite a bit in photoshop also, applying layers and more colour to enrich the overall look When i ponder this, it gives me a feeling of hope, like after the mourning, there is morning and the sun comes out again….. It’s all about our connection with nature and other lofty things :)
Another belly shot of the crocus in our yard … image taken March 21, 2009 with the Nikon D40x and the 60mm Nikon macro lens.
Close up of a Dandelion flower head. Black & white picture.
This is Storm the Golden Eagle…found at Pacific Northwest Raptors in the Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island BC….what an honor to be able to photograph this beautiful bird so close up….She was so special…
Right place, right time for this shot! Wanted to shoot the Devils Kitchen in the Noosa Heads National Park, but the sky didn’t agree with landscape photography on this afternoon. Hanging around shooting my favorite subjest, eagles, this offshore rainstorm came rolling in. The setting sun came out, and supplied this wonderful scene! By far the most illuminated rainbow I have ever seen, it was so bright.. Canon 50D, 10mm, Available Large, and definately best viewed Large! Noosa Heads National Park, Queensland, Australia.
As I was taking a few shots of this beautiful scenery in the vertical format, this beautiful Australasian Gannet flew right past me. I could have almost stuck my hand out and touched him, incredable experience! I guess he didn’t see me, as I was on the edge of the cliff with a shrub to my left. I’m glad I was shooting when he flew past, and on the +-0 stop frame too!! Canon 50D, 10mm. Devils Kitchen, Noosa Heads National Park, Queensland, Australia. Bird is an Australasian Gannet, these beautiful coastal birds are a bird of prey, and dive sometimes from large heights for school bait fish.
Mr Weatherman forecast rain for the next 7 days. Not taking his advice i decided to try my luck out yesterday morning. Well there wasn’t any light, but also no rain, so that’s a bonus! Only a small exposure adjustment needed in post for this one. I’m loving my 50D.
Went to go spend the day with Storm, Hank and Shaya today….and as luck would have it… / Hank decided to go for a bath….Oh my gosh…was I lucky or what??? / The white you are seeing in Hank’s eyes is something called a nictitating membrane. This eyelid is transparent, and sweeps across the eye from side to side. It grows in the inner corner of the eye, right next to the tear duct. This is a protection against getting any water, blood, etc in the eye…So all my bath pictures have Hank with his nictitating membrane. Nothing is wrong with his eyes at all…
A male yellow headed blackbird near Oxbow Bend, Grand Teton National Park, USA. Nesting amongst reeds in marshes, the yellow headed blackbird feeds on insects and seeds. Migratory in nature, yellow headed blackbirds breed through the central United States into northern Canada. Winter grounds extend from the southwestern United States well into central Mexico. Common among songbirds, the male is the one blessed with spectacular plumage while females sport drab black and brown feathering. While the yellow headed blackbird is a flagrantly beautiful bird, it’s normal call is entirely non-melodic, raucous and harsh. Please meet Manwe…My new friend…and, as luck would have it…he also decided to take a bath, just like my dear Hank…Only..Manwe..really really knows how to plunge…what a guy…and I feel pretty damn lucky to have such fine feathered friends…. I am so excited to announce that this photo is being published in NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC! It will be in February 2010 issue…YAY!!! such an honor
3200 ISO is a brave new world for me. As a self confessed low ISO junkie, one who used Ektar 25 film whenever and wherever he could for many years because I wanted tight grain, the tighter the better, I would pull out all the stops I could to use that amazing ISO 25 film! For sure I’d never gone above ISO 1000 and then only to shoot indoor sporting events. Low ISO was(?) a hang-up for me! But I wanted to try astral photography and high ISO can get you there! However as we all know high ISO leads to increased noise which is something fairly new to me. You can use software and Photoshop plugins but I’ve been considering, one way to control noise would be to minimize or eliminate it by keeping the ISO as low as possible and that’s one way I‘m leaning. So in that regard it looks like a fast 50 prime is in order! It’s fun to be experimenting and learning, eh! Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 30 / Av( Aperture Value ) 3.5 / ISO Speed 3200 / Focal Length 18.0mm / Flash at 1/16 power and about 12 or 13 paper towels for diffusion. “One Night Under the Milky Way” was shot at Flamber Head on Newfoundland’s East Coast Trail For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr
Going to do a series of the Noosa National Park in Queensland. This place is totally beautiful, and so natural! The park is loaded with hiking tracks, with some unmarked and quite rugged. I can’t think of anything better than being alone and at one with nature in it’s purest form. This rock pool, not easily accessable as it took about 20 minutes of rock jumping and some climbing. I find the best places are where no one can easily access :) Noosa National Park, Noosa Heads, Queensland, Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm. Available Large and best viewed Large!
