Located on the shores of the Lake of Menteith I took this from the wee boat going over to the island. Thanks to Chris Clark for this information: Port of Menteith Church Church of Scotland On the shore of the Lake of Menteith, a church built in 1878 to designs by John Honeyman on a site of earlier churches with medieval connections. Simple rectangular plan, Gothic style, with square tower containing carillon of eight bells. Victorian pipe organ, probably by Brook. Surrounded by a graveyard and a few minutes walk from the ferry to Inchmahome where the ruined 13th-century Augustinian Priory may be visited. On B8034 beside the Lake Hotel. Linked with Aberfoyle.

St Mungo’s Cathedral, Glasgow. The building was substantially completed during the 13th century, but the tower was completed during the 15th century. The building is relatively small (319 ft by 63 ft) but, from the inside, appears substantially larger owing to its height, its narrowness, and the massing of the columns and arches. 3exp hand-held HDR processed in Photomatix; post-processing in Photoshop CS4; Canon EOS 450D + 17-85mm zoom;

Some of the more spectacular colouring had left the area at the time I took this, there were a lot more blues rather than reds. The water was still glassy smooth, so I went to my 24mm ts-e lens and took a 2 shot panoramic, keeping the foreground more prominant than the sky. Canon Eos 5D, 24mm TS-E, 2×1.5 second exposures, 0.6 ND and 0.6 ND hard grad.

Station Road Park (Rose Garden) in South Queensferry, Scotland on Christmas Eve 2009. In Spring and Summer it is a haven of quiet, a lovely place to sit among a profusion of glorious flowers, but now, snow carpets the ground and Jack Frost nips at your fingers and toes. Snow (other than the short lived inch or so) has become increasingly rare at this latitude in Scotland over the last 20 years, so it is nice to see a decent fall of snow, even if it does cause chaos to our transport systems. Camera: Canon EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi in the USA) / Lens: Canon 18-55mm IS BEST VIEWED LARGER Single RAW image tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 3.2. Dalmeny is a planned village on the Dalmeny Estate, to the east of South Queensferry and west of the city of Edinburgh close to the A90 road approaching the Forth Bridge. Its fine 12th century Norman church and stone built cottages were built around a square, the whole village now being designated a Conservation Area. The name Dalmeny is of Scottish Gaelic origin, being now Dail Mheinnidh or Dail M’Eithne in the modern language.This may refer to an ancient ecclesiastical settlement, dedicated to an obscure (female) saint Eithne.
