Another self portrait. Ya…I’m desperate for models. / Took a little work to mount the camera in the dash and eliminate any shake for the multiple exposure. A freshly paved road also helped! / If you can’t laugh at yourself…who can you laugh at? I meant to add this and forgot. This was my inspiration… My pappy said “Son your gonna drive me to drinkin’ / If you don’t stop driving that hot rod Lincoln” Have you heard the story of the hot rod race / Where the Fords and the Lincolns were setting the pace? / Well that story is true cause I’m here to say / I was driving that model A. It’s got a Lincoln motor and its really souped up / And that model A body makes it look like a pup / It’s got eight cylinders, uses them all / It’s got overdrive, just won’t stall It’s got a four barrel carb, and dual exhaust / With foureleven gears you can really get lost. / It’s got safety tubes, but I ain’t scared / Breaks are good, tires fair Pullin out of San Pedro late one night / With the moon and the stars just shinin bright / We was headed up grapevine Hill / Passing cars like they was standing still All of a sudden, in the wink of an eye / A Cadillac sedan passed us by / I said “Boys this ones marked for me” / But by then the tail lights was all you could see Now the fellas rid me for being behind / So I thought I’d let that Lincoln unwind / Took my foot of the gas and man alive / I shoved it on down into over drive Wound it up to 110 / My speedometer said I hit top end / My foot was glued like lead to the floor / That’s all there is, and there ain’t no more Now the boys all thought that I’d lost my sense / Those telephone poles looked like a picket fence / They said “Slow down, I see spots!” / The lines on the road just looked like dots Took a corner, side swiped a truck / Crossed my fingers just for luck / My fenders was clicking the guard rail post / The guy beside me was white as a ghost We had smoke coming from out of the back / When I started gainin on that Cadillac / I knew I could catch him, I thought I could pass / But don’t you know by then we’d be low on gas I had flames coming from out of the side / Feel the tension, man what a ride / I said “Look out boys, I’ve got a license to fly” / And that Caddy pulled over and let us by All of the sudden she started knocking / Down in the dips she started rocking / I looked in the mirror. Red lights were blinking / The cops was after my Hot Rod Lincoln – Damn The arrested me and they put me in jail / Called my pappy to throw my bail / And he said “Son, you’re going to drive me to drinkin’ / If you don’t stop driving that Hot Rod Lincoln” *lyrics by All

This is exactly how it looked in 1989. The ivy stays here year round. It’s weird, because it’s barren outside; winter. But when you step inside (which isn’t hard..you simply step through the wall) it looks like a summer day. Very odd & surreal feeling. Taken last week, standing in the basement looking up at the back door. More from the abandoned farmhouse series soon. :) And Happy New Year everyone!! / It’s 8:37 p.m. here. BEST VIEWED LARGER CURENT ENTRY IN MORNINGS AND EVENINGS CHALLENGE THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT THis shot was taken from Berrys Bay/ Balls Head Park on the north shore of Sydney taken on Wednesday 28th May 2008 around 5pm. As you can see the clouds herald what is to come, the buildings are lit by pre storm light combined with the last rays of day light. The storm that followed was quite severe with 868 recorded lightning strikes, just have to love the clouds and light. Equipment used Nikon D300 and Nikon 18 – 200mm lens. /

As I stood on the bank watching this young man paddle his canoe across the lake. He seemed to be unaware of the beauty that lay behind him. This made me think about all the beauty that we behold each and every day that we simply ignore or take forgranted. Sometimes we need to just stop and really take in all of the marvelous creations around us. MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER / 190 Comments,125 Favourites, 2956 Views / Sydney is great for sunrises, it quite often receives spectacular sunrises as it greets the sunrises that appear from the east. This shot shows the city skyline as seen from North Sydney CBD on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, in the foreground is Lavender Bay. Technique: HDR , 5 Bracketted images processed with Photomatix Pro with avery slight adjustment (sharpening & contrast) in Capture NX. Equipment: Nikon D300 , Nikon 18-200mm lens No filters or colour adjustment 1) RED SKY AT NIGHT… means that as the sun sets in the west, if it has a red hue or color to it, then the moisture was further west of their location. Thus SAILORS DELIGHT. A beautiful sunset. 2) RED SKY IN MORN…means that as the sunlight from the rising sun passes through moisture, it too will be red. This means that with the rotation of the earth, this will bring this moisture (and possible storm) right on top of them and it is only a few hours away. SO SAILORS TAKE WARN.” / I hope this bit of weather science helps.

This is my favorite photo! I always remember the awful smell of the shad factory on the way to shackelford banks when I was a kid. I have wanted to photograph this place for while now and the other day was the moment, everything was just perfect. I took this one with my 20D standing in a 16’ boat with no tripod….bracketed 3 frames and merged them in photomatix.
