  • The Open Range Colorado is a land of ever changing weather and scenery, often when you are up in the high country (as the locals here call it) storms have the ability to roll in seemingly out of no where, with little or no warning at all. It is a land of ever changing weather, and as they say, “Welcome to Colorado, wait 10 minutes and the weather will change!”—ya, that basically fits the scene here. Captured in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER This typical Australian shot was taken on the Shipley Plateau in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area , it was created from 4 bracketed images using a Nikon D300 fitted with a Nikon 18-200mm. No filters were used. THe Blue Mountains are located 2 hours west of Sydney by road, also by train for visitors to Sydney, there are also organised day trips via motor coach that will take you to the area for the day…. though if you have the time spend a few days in the area. You can see all the attractions, have a devonshire tea in one of the many teahouses, or sit on the edge of the valley that seems to go on forever, and listen to the birdlife. Bushwalking is a must ! My HDR Journey continues !

  • I took this on holiday in Scotland. I liked the contrast of the Urban style man made object and building site being layered onto the natural Scottish mountains.

  • There are few places in Colorado that I love more than this one, and yes, it is a very iconic place, situated between Allenspark and Estes Park…and in Autumn it simply comes alive in ways I can not even begin to mention, the bushes turn a liquid gold in color, and everything resembles a painting….beauty in it’s most sincere form in Nature. I hope you all like it! / John /

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER Cradle Mountain forms the northern end of the wild Cradle Mt – Lake St Clair National Park, itself a part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. The jagged contours of Cradle Mountain epitomise the feel of a wild landscape, while ancient rainforest and alpine heathlands, buttongrass and stands of colourful deciduous beech provide a range of environments to explore. Icy streams cascading out of rugged mountains, stands of ancient pines mirrored in the still waters of glacial lakes and a wealth of wildlife ensure there is always something to captivate you. The area is one of the most popular natural areas in Tasmania. A visit will reveal why. Cradle is the starting point for the world-famous Overland Track, a magnificent 6 day walk that will take you through the heart of some of the finest mountain terrain. The Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park shares a “Twin Parks” agreement with the World Heritage listed Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve in the People’s Republic of China . For many, a highlight of their trip to the northern end of the Cradle Mountain—Lake St Clair National Park is the view across Dove Lake to Cradle Mountain, one of Tasmania’s natural highlights. The mountain itself is a jagged, dolerite peak which dominates the area. Its name, supposedly, is derived from the mountain’s resemblance to a miner’s cradle. This dramatic vista can be seen either on foot as you walk along the shores of the Lake, or from the carpark at Dove Lake. Visitors should bear in mind, however, that the wild weather of the Tasmanian highlands often shrouds the mountain in cloud. There are a number of excellent walks in the area, including the Dove Lake Loop Track which takes you through the stunning Ballroom Forest, an area of cool temperate rainforest nestled against the slopes of the mountain. Other walks include the Weindorfers Forest walk. Of course, the area also marks the start of the famous
