Shot on the top of Trailridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Standing at approximately 12,000 feet high, I took this shot, then hurried back in the car. Why? Well as the sign stated : “Warning! If there is any indication of thunderstorms or lightning in the area, you should not make this hike. Remember: lightning has been known to strike up to 5 miles from the thunderhead and as the tallest object, you become a prime lightning rod! This applies to all areas above tree line!” And now you know why. And as I sat here surveying the whole scene, like something out of the movie “The 10 Commandments”..... I did start singing “The hills are alive with the sound of mussssssssic!” I was awe struck, and this was a very hard shot for me personally considering my health as of late and the altitude I was at. I overdid it, but ya know, I think the price I paid was well worth it! Many, many more shots to come yet. Stay tuned! Hiking to the Kebnekaise valley in the far north of Sweden during September can be challenging due to rough weather. However, it sure is rewarding once you get there and see the beauty of autumn in these alpine areas.
Towering above at 13,001 feet in altitude, Summit Lake is breathtaking. Showcasing Mount Evans in the background, it displays wildflowers which are found no where else on earth except the arctic circle. Captured in the morning light and processed in HDR, I really wanted to scene to come to life. Thoughts most welcomed! —-—-—-—-—-—-—— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Nestled outside of Copper Mountain in Colorado, this caught my attention fast as I was coming back home to Denver. It literally came out of no where, and thus I slammed on the breaks and made a B-line for the shoulder of the road. This was an utterly incredible scene, looking like it has never even been touched by man…..standing here looking at this, was nothing but absolute paradise….. / --John —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com

MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER Thank you For dropping in and viewing my latest work, for those who Favourite this work I am Honoured Isn’t it wonderful when you get up early, set your camera on a tripod and that great photographer in the sky blesses you with that magic moment ! The roadside Pearsons Lookout, on the Castlereagh Highway just south of Capertee village, gives a view over the expansive Capertee Valley / Surrounded by the wonders of World Heritage listed wilderness, the Capertee valley is the world’s second largest canyon. Capertee is 1 kilometre longer than the Grand Canyon, but not quite as deep. Sandstone cliffs dominate the escarpment, drawing down into a deep chasm carved into the environment over millions of years. With tranquil vistas and serene mountain landscapes the Capertee Valley is abundant in flora and wildlife. Under the sandstone layer stretches an enormous layer of coal and oil shale. Rising majestically out of the valley floor is a monolith in size and spectacle. The impressive peak, Pantoney’s Crown, beckons the keen walker to climb its summit. From the top a 360° panorama, of the dramatic and breathtaking valley. The Capertee valley is located in The Gardens Of Stone National Park The Blue Mountains if a World Heritage Area , a few hours by road west of Sydney and are a must when visiting Sydney. The phrase “swan song” is a reference to an ancient belief that the Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) is completely mute during its lifetime until the moment just before it dies, when it sings one beautiful song. It was also the name of legendary rock band Led Zeppelin’s record label. / Rowardennan, Loch Lomand, Scotland. / Infrared HDR on modified Canon G6 and processed with Photomatix. /
This was the moment I was hoping for after eleven very strenuous miles on a muddy, narrow trail. We photographers go fishing every day, mostly we get nibbles, but sometimes we land a whopper. I am so proud of this image because I went out to shoot this scene very intentionally. It was very hard work, and this will pay off. The Na Pali Trail winds along the steep and rugged coastline of Kauai’s North shore, and ends in the legendary Kalalau Valley—the place is nearly mythical in its beauty.
THIS IS A BIG IMAGE VIEW LARGER FOR BEST RESULTS This shot was taken from Echo Point in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area at sunset, it was created from 4 bracketed images using a Nikon D300 fitted with a Nikon 18-200mm. No filters were used. The Blue Mountains are located 2 hours west of Sydney by road, also by train for visitors to Sydney, there are also organised day trips via motor coach that will take you to the area for the day…. though if you have the time spend a few days in the area. You can see all the attractions, have a devonshire tea in one of the many teahouses, or sit on the edge of the valley that seems to go on forever, and listen to the birdlife. Bushwalking is a must !

Well, it rains more often than not on Skye, so a chance to use a photographic opportunity ! A few breaks in the cloud, the weak sun spotlighting the Landcsape…......click, shot in the bag ! / I love the thunder of water that echoes around me when I capture a shot like this, it raises my adrenaline level, and I confess to getting “high” !! / A late evening shot. A three shot HDR, RAW files, taken on my CanonEOS40D, mounted on tripod, f23, iso100, auto wb, polariser fitted to help blur the water a little more, (a ND would have done a lot more!), then processed in Photomatix, titivated up in Adobe CS3. Further enhancement, by duplicating the HDR image, applying full strength Orton, then layering back on to the original, (HDR!) and reducing the opacity until I was happy with the result ! Today was another gorgeous day / Bitterly cold, lots of frost, so I thought I would take a little tour over what I call ‘my’ mountain, which is situated in Connemara, between Oughterard and Casla. It is a mountain road of approximately 30 km full of extra ordinary views of The Twelve Bens (the Twelve Pins) , the famous mountain range in Connemara with its 12 peaks. This is a partial view of those peaks. The seaside of ‘my’ mountain was fine to drive on, the Oughterard side turned out to be a bit treacherous when I got stranded in the snow. I ended up behind a lorry that got stuck, and spent 1,5 hours waiting for help to arrive and dig us out. Was great fun though, and I will upload a couple of snow pictures later. The ‘help troopers’ brought hot chocolate to drink and the lorry driver, who actually collected dead animals and transported them, had loads of silly stories to tell during our waiting hours. This is a HDR out of 3 bracketed images. Hope you like it.
