  • Cannon Beach, OR – Haystack Rock This is a very special place for me…..... Haystack Rock has such a pull …. an irresistible force. Info: RAW/1 sec. shutter for blur/ minor color tone w/CS2

  • Our local 101 art group has a “Fabulous Fakes” exhibition every year. This was my attempt at one of Monet’s Haystacks series of paintings. I found it a really interesting study. You really look carefully at another artist’s work when you try to copy it and thus see subtle nuances which you might otherwise miss. A new challenge from the acrylic painters gp prompted this upload.

  • Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach, Oregon 2007 Nikon D80 We walked along the beach. Played in the tidal pools next to Haystack. Built sand castles. Squeeled in the ocean. We had tons of fun. A very great day! Only changed it to BW…maybe a couple tiny corrections…nothing overly processed

  • otherwise known as… Parley Cove ;) My husband and I travel to Cannon Beach every year, and I have been going since I was 16. I’ve always wished I could see a pirate ship sailing through the waters there…or anchored just off shore. And now, I have! ;)

  • Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 17-70 lens at 17mm, F16, ISO100, shutter speed 1 to 1/4 seconds, edited in Photomatix tweaked in Photoshop Buttermere – the lake by the dairy pastures – is 1 1/2 miles long, 3/4 of a mile wide and 75 feet deep. The classic combination of lakes and mountains has made this popular with visitors since the beginning of tourism in the Lake District. A visit to Buttermere is principally for its natural attractions – as the area offers some of the best walking country in Lakeland. There is a footpath running round the perimeter of the lake, and lovely walks to the summits of Haystacks and Red Pike.

  • Carpathian Mountains (Karpaty). (Map: Eastern Carpathians.) Folded, young mountains of medium elevation, stretching in an arc about 1,500 km long (with a chord of almost 500 km) from the city of Bratislava in the northwest to the Iron Gate on the Danube River in the southeast and covering an area of about 200,000 sq km. The Carpathians are part of the Alpine mountain system and border on the old Czech, Polish, and Ukrainian massifs and Dobrudja, being separated from them by a band of young depressions—along the Morava River and Vistula River, the Sian Lowland and Dniester Lowland, the Subcarpathian Depression, and the Wallachian Depression. The Pannonian Basin, which cuts north into the mountains along the Tysa River and Bodrog River and their tributaries, occupies the central part of the arc.

  • A stormy day at Cannon Beach shot from Ecola State Park, features Haystack Rock.

  • Handstands at Cannon Beach.

  • These two seastacks just south of Haystack rock are known as the “Haystack Needles.” This picture was taken just as the sun dipped beneath the horizon. As the tide retreated and left a thin layer of water, I was able to capture this reflection in the beach. Cannon Beach, a city in Clatsop County, Oregon, United States, is an tourist resort destination, popular in Pacific Northwest located on highway 101. In 1846, a cannon from the US Navy schooner Shark washed ashore just north of Arch Cape, a few miles to the south of Elk Creek, the current Cannon Beach. The schooner was wrecked while attempting to cross the Columbia Bar, also known as the “Graveyard of the Pacific” because of the danger of the bar. The beach was renamed “Cannon Beach.”

  • Another shot from my walk on 23rd June 2009 along Buttermere in the English Lake District National Park. / Fleetwith Pike is the fell (hill) on the left, and Haystacks is the one with the craggy outline to its right. / My pal and fellow Red Bubbler davidShandley just added one of his shots of this place and made me realise that I should give more details about the area, as his was very informative. / But why not cheat and let him tell you about it here / Sony Alpha 350 DSLR HDR 3 shots autobracketed and tonemapped in Photomatix, 18-70 lens and slightly edited for contrast and to clone out unwanted people in Picassa3 / Featured in The Beauty of European Waters July 2009 & The Ashes..Australia v England October 2009 /
