  • In Hilo on the big Island of Hawaii just across the street from a hospital is this banyan tree in a grove of very large banyan trees. This was taken with a tripod as it was dark underneath the canopy of leaves.

  • A large formation of Lava rock off the coast of Kihei on Maui, Hawaii turned into a boiling sinking cauldron by the rising tides flowing in from above and below. The water level on this cauldron would rise and fall as much as 6 feet with the ebb and flow of the waves. I was fascinated by this marvel of nature and creation.

  • Lava rock off the South coast of Maui with the light of the setting sun illuminating the clouds and rocks alike as the incoming tides surge past the rocks.

  • This dreamy vision of fragrant Frangipani brings back to me the heavenly colors and scents of this alluring tropical flower which I was blessed to enjoy today in my friend’s garden. I would like to dedicate this image to everyone here at RedBubble and to send you all a virtual bouquet of plumeria. This has to be the best photo site available to anyone. • Beautiful south Maui beach at sunset…..

  • A veritable seaside cauldron of stone nearly boiling over with the rising tides at sunset near Kihei with the West Maui Mountains capped by clouds in the distance.

  • The cauldron full to the brim and ready to boil over as the sun sets of the Mountains of West Maui in the Hawaiian Islands.

  • A beautiful wave crashes into the shores of Hawaii. This was an excellent day for shooting just empty waves and I managed to get quite a few dramatic looking shots, this one was my favorite from this day.

  • “Love Rests on No Foundation ~ It is an endless ocean, with no beginning or end. Imagine, a suspended ocean, riding on a cushion of ancient secrets. All souls have drowned in it, and now dwell there. One drop of that ocean is hope, and the rest is fear.” ~ Quatrains of Rumi Plumeria Blossom on Lava Rocks / Hamoa Beach Maui Hawai`i Copyright © Sharon Mau / All Rights Reserved Featured in Natural Colour and Light group 25 December 2008 Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi This lovely Plumeria blossom floated from the tree which arches overhead as I was walking down the stone steps to the luxurious black sand beach of Hamoa, one of my favourite beaches on Maui. I was captivated with the beauty of it resting softly on the lichen blanketed lava rock and the contrasts of soft sensual beauty with the rough textures of the hardened magma. Of course I instantly stopped and photographed it. It is one of my favourites and I am happy you enjoy it

  • A color sunset as the tides roll in near Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.

  • As I crawled from my tent with blurred eyes, I could see that the sun was going to rise perfectly behind Alau Island. This image was unplanned, yet a perfectly wonderful stroke of luck.

  • “Celebrate Life” is the loose translation of my photo. So CELEBRATE!

  • This photograph is a sunrise shot taken at Halona Cove on O’ahu’s eastern shore. The sun appeared to be rising straight out of Haleakala or “House of the Sun” on Maui. Halona Cove is also known as “From Here to Eternity” Beach. This is the location where Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster embraced in the surf in a memorable, steamy scene from the movie of that title. Canon 30D, EF 18-55 lens, polarizer.

  • The Wedding Beach at Makena. / Once you find this spot, you will return time and again to enjoy the unsurpassed beauty you find here. In the morning hours, the water will be all shades of blue and turquoise and I believe this is one of the most beautiful beaches on Maui, Hawaii / Nikon D-60 AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm Featured POLYNESIAN CONNECTION ~ Jan – Feb – Mar 2009 / Featured in HAWAII ~NA AU’ group ~ 21 April 2009 Mahalo for coming to visit one of my most favorite photos of Maui. Such a beautiful place, it is good to come and visit in the morning for the light over the water is magical. Aqua, turquise, deep blue with white waves crashing on the shore. Once you have been here, you will never forget this perfect little bay that has been nicknamed the “Wedding Beach.”. / It is simply sublime…

  • It is a rare occasion when there is no wind blowing the palms, and there are enough clouds over the ocean to create a dramatic sunset at this location. I spent a week’s worth of evenings in this area before the conditions set up perfectly. Technically this is a series of 5 long exposures layered. I was using a 10mm lens on my little Canon XTi. It worked. This beach is in an area where there will soon be plenty of new construction, sadly. The “old” Maui is slipping away, and it breaks my heart. I hope images like this will preserve the pristine flavor for future generations.
