Scanned photographs taken on 35mm film and developed in sepia finish. / I took these photographs because I used to drive past these lovely old buildings, telling myself that they would make great series of paintings. So after seeing some of the ‘one day I will paint this house’ disappear, I decided to get out of the car and capture them for my project. I love these old buildings because I feel they have charm and personality. I was born in Fitzroy and grew up surrounded by friendly neighbours who lived in homes like the ones I photographed. I now live in the suburbs surrounded by modern homes, which are nice, but it is the charming old girls in Fitzroy and Carlton who have my heart.
