  • Standing on the shores of Loch Rannoch one evening, looking past submerged trees over to Schiehallion in the distance. Taken on the Hasselblad using Ilford FP4+ film.

  • This was the last shot as I was packing up, while I was chatting to a fellow medium-format photographer. It’s got everything: lovely subtle pink & blue sky colours, reflection in still water… well worth getting up early for. Taken on the Hasselblad using Fuji Provia film, at Friar’s Crag on the end of Derwentwater, Keswick, in the Lake District .

  • A little yellow boat working its way across Derwentwater offsetting the perfect symmetrical reflection of pink clouds and blue sky in the lake, looking towards Catbells. Taken as the sun was rising early one autumn morning, at Friar’s Crag , Keswick, Lake District . Hasselblad , Fuji Velvia slide film.

  • Socialite and model Elizabeth Hooley. One of my shots showing my style during the 60’s. I have left the banner on in the hopes that this may be considered as a poster. Now it would hardly make a poster without some sort of blurb at the bottom would it!? © 1966 John Hooton Photography

  • Taken in 1966, this is one of my favourite images of the 60’s of the iconic DJ, Sir Jimmy Savile OBE. I took the shot when I was 20 during my assistant days at 1:15 am, after a long advertising shoot for a petrol company with my boss, top fashion and advertising photographer John Cowan. I asked Sir Jim if I could run a couple of rolls of film for my portfolio. True gent that he is, Jim said “Sure!” even though every one was pretty tired after the 5 hour gasoline ad session. Anyhow, this is the result and it remains one of my favourite pictures to this day as it shows Sir Jim as he really was and is – a strong and generous human being who did not take himself too seriously. You are a true professional Jim, and I am eternally grateful to you for giving me this opportunity. • ♥ Retro Film Cameras!

  • Just an everyday activity captured on film. I love how film can make the mundane seem so beautiful. Another medium format scanned negative – taken on a Hasselblad 500c.

  • Another image taken on a Hasselblad and another image for my developing ‘Childhood Narratives’ portfolio.

  • Now for something a little bit different. This was part of my course at university – studio photography. This was taken with a Hasselblad 501cm medium format camera – with a flashring – developed in darkroom and scanned from the original print (my negs are still with lecturer).

  • more work from the hasselblad :)

  • more from my series of children at play.

  • I remember one of the loneliest times for me at school was when it was playtime. Looking around to see who and if you could play with someone. I think though it made me learn to like my own company .. I am still very much happy to be in my own world.

  • Another one for my series on school. And more work drawn from my relationship with school.

  • Was debating as whether or not to put this up as it felt a bit cheeky but it is an important image within my school series. This one was conceived as an idea about bullying. Thankfully I wasn’t bullied physically but I know people who were and it is terrible – it is one of my worse fears for my children too. I wanted to portray the isolation, betrayal and loneliness a child feels when they are bullied.

  • something a bit more light-hearted :) Just loved the light.

  • Sorry to upload another from my memory series. I am afraid over the next few days I shall be adding more as from next week I shall have little time to participate on redbubble as my course starts again. I am doing a course on alternative printing so hopefully will have something to upload. I apologise to for not being able to comment as much as I would like. I wasn’t going to say much about this image but I thought I would just paste in the reply I gave to Matt’s comment about it: A couple of weeks ago I went to my daughters school for a meeting – at the same time she had come out for playtime – I was watching her and witnessed a group of girls that kept running away from her – leaving her standing alone – in the end she stood there crying. I left the office and went outside to pick her up and comfort her – it was only then that the teacher noticed. When I was looking through my negs this afternoon I saw this one and it made me think of it .. There is an anti-bullying day at her school on friday .. they all have to wear blue .. i hope things improve but it does seem, sadly that the playground hasn’t changed that much. So yes, this is exactly what I was aiming for.
