This has to be my favourite castle! The campsite is at the bottom of the steep cliffs so you can wake in the morning and look up at the castle! Fab! / Building the castle started around 1290 – fantastic, the work involved – and stronger than most buildings these days! / Oooh, meant to say, do view larger!

Harlech castle in the north of Wales, This castle sits on the highest pont in Harlech over looking the sea, and with the Snowdonian mountains to the north east. I like this place and this particular image, in that it is timeless in its looks and the fire glow in the late evening sky as it illuminates the castle and the trees. /

Between the sands of Llandanwg and Harlech the beach is a long stretch of boulders and rocks. Not too easy to cross but a dramatic sight.
