I thought about this verse from Psalm 34, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and the crushed in spirit He saves,” when I noticed the camellias Mama had cut for me fell from the vase during the night, leaving scattered heart-shaped petals on my kitchen counter. I hadn’t really noticed the shape of the petals until Charlotte Ottilo commented about them in previous photos I had posted. I would like to send special thoughts and prayers out to Bianca Thomas whose husband is critically ill and to reassure her that God is near her in her brokenheartedness and that He will guard and help her and her husband during these crushing times. (Postscript: the black speckly background in this photo is not my kitchen countertop; it’s a black sweater with metallic threads in it; I kind of like the starry night effect it lends to the picture).

On our way back from the mountain gorillas in Rwanda the local people were gathering water from a tap. I gave them a little money in return for taking their picture. This young woman’s face says it all…

This is my original picture “Hardship” made into black and white. On the way to see the mountain gorillas in Rwanda we came across families working on the land. This young girl was helping her family collect drinking water from a standpipe. The people earned 1 USDollar a day here.

Odd evening tonight. Very warm – summer warm, yet its only 8 days into spring. The frogs are very vocal. A rhapsody of concern outside, pleading to mother nature to make it rain. Its a song in vain I fear. Random downbursts, sinking vortexes of wind and pressure skulk through the atmosphere. / Dead calm, then a strong gust of wind drops straight down from the sky above. The house creaks, the gate rattles and dinner plate drops of rain numbered around 25, but no more, crash onto the tin roof like pebbles from the sky. The weather station records nothing as dramatic as the complaints from the house would suggest. Then as fast as it comes its gone. Odd?? A new weather system is on the approach. It looked good for a while too. Rain was on the forecast!! Bummer, its weakening. / Bummer, it looks like the promised rains might have been a clutch at straws. Am worried by the downturn. I’ll be out of dam water by December at the current rate of season collapse. The cows will be thirsty. This is all too common a story across Australia. What will happen will happen, but the tough walk is still to come. Better get out the crutches I suppose. / Looks to the heavens and shouts – “You can break my legs ya bastard, but ya won’t stop me!!” This time next year will make the present look like a walk in the park. As this season rapidly collapses into weather anarchy yet again my thoughts cannot help but drift to the pessimistic view. I will see it through – just, but my income is supplemented from outside sources. I am lucky. My thoughts and prayers drift to those families whose soul resides IN the land and will have their spirit cut asunder this year. / Am thinking of you lot – you are not alone.

THE POWER OF DREAMS
by JaneAParisThe power of dreams / The power of our dreams / Not letting go of something / No matter how hard they beat on you…
This is about believing in yourself, through all kinds of hardship. It is about holding onto a dream, and making it a reality…And to let go, means only death to body, soul, mind, and heart.

a rougher version of the self portrait. I delieberately shot this one to show the roughness, and a loss of softness to represent the effect life has on a woman. She can either portray softness or roughness depending on life itself.Despite the roughness of the photo I’m still smiling, my love of life shows through despite the hardships of life.

TO LISTEN TO THE VIDEO AND MUSIC PLEASE / CLICK ON THIS LINK= / ................................................................................................. / And I saw it coming / I saw emptiness and tragedy / And I felt like running / So far away / But knew I had to stay / And I know when I’m older / I look back and I still feel the pain / I know I’ll be stronger and I know I’ll be fine / For the rest of my days I’ve seen better days / Put my face in my hands / Get down on my knees and I pray to God / Hope he sees me through till the end I noticed the smallest things / But I didn’t notice the change / It was hot in the morning / Then it turned so cold, twas the end of the day / There was no condensation I just felt like I was in space / I needed my friends there I just turned around / They were gone without a trace I’ve seen better days / Put my face in my hands / Get down on my knees and I pray to God / Hope he sees me through till the end Now I have just started / And I won’t be done till the end / There’s nothing I have lost / That was once placed upon the palm of my hands / And all of these hard times / Have faded round the bend / Now that I’m wiser I cannot wait / Till I can help my friends I’ve seen better days / Put my face in my hands / Get down on my knees and I pray to God / Hope he sees me through till the end Seen better days / Put my face in my hands / Get down on my knees and I pray to God / Hope he sees me through till the end .......................................................................................... This is a tragic scene of shanti towns just out of Capetown in South Africa built just on the side of the freeway. It really makes you appreciate what you have. These poor people were living in these self made from scrap material huts that took on a 35 degree celcius heat of the african sun.

About experiences and growth. It covers a lot of the grounds and grinds of life: 1)relationships, 2)being powerless, 3)children and loss, 4)age and stagnation, 5)sexual and emotional death, 6)being labeled and being ill, 7)dealing with lies, 8)fear, wounds and realizations about our place in the sum of things, 9)sexual abuse, 10)political and religious persecution and faith, 11)borders and barriers to life fullfillment, 12)manipulation and control (beating and petting the dog), and lastly the 00 foot tall is about loss of hope in this world, but having faith that there will be a resolution in heaven…Big long explanation, huh – this work was pretty simple yet intense for me…

Another image of the performance given at the Sage Gateshead, in north-east UK. / In the three projected images, we see portrayed the Chinese cocklepickers preparing to go out into Morecambe Bay, on the west coast of England. It is a notorious, dangerous bay, where the tides rush in and catch anyone out on the sands. Sadly, these cocklepickers gave their lives in seeking to improve the lot of themselves and their families. This musical interpretation, given by local Community Groups and professional musicians, seeks to tell their story. My thanks to James P for his help in editing this shot. Taken, using the Scene function on my Olympus SP550 UZ

I have just graduated Uni it has taken me 6 years but the Lord has been with me all the way. He understands how I feel and he will not let me go he will come running after me and wait for me to turn to him. When I was at Uni and going through a hard time and suffering depression he gave me this picture in my head I suspose you would call it a vision first I saw the back of a child and father sitting on a couch and the father had their arm around the child then I had another picture of a father cradeling a child in his arms and brushing his hand over their brow. This child was me and the Father was God. This had a very powerful impact on my life. We all may have had different life journeys but God loves us all the same he does not favour one child over another and we can encourage one another by giving God the glory for what he has done in our lives. When the world sees how we have handled the hardships of life they will come and ask us questions and we will be able to point them to Jesus and what he did on the cross. The only way that people will see Jesus is through our lives. I just praise God that I am a new creature in Christ and it is his doing I had nothing to do with it except respond to his gift.
