Sydney has many attractions but, I’m sure, the two most well known are the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Quite a few years back now, I got up very early one morning, braved the cold, setup the camera and took this image. I really like the glow from the light just before the sun came up. Scan from Fujichrome. Have sold as a laminated print to someone on RB. Thank you whoever purchased !
Sydney Harbour at sunset. / I took my family into Sydney one evening for some fish and chips and we enjoyed this view. / I hope you are inspired! Click on the photo and see the larger view on this one! Thanks for visiting! / I really appreciate your comments.
Dramatic skies above Whitby harbour at dawn in North Yorkshire, England. In the distance a man walks his dog on the deserted beach…
Mangroves at Blue Holes, Castle Harbour, Bermuda. Early morning at low tide
found a whole untouched box of slides today….. amazing and the first one out was the missing companion image to and at the end of the day .... makes a change from the deep brooding IR landscapes I’ve been putting up …... I’m pretty sure most people will figure out were this was taken and the old boat and the new boat framing this wonderful building are an interesting juxtaposition that speak about where we Australians have come from and were we are now…..... enjoy
Well I started the day with by taking down ten pages of pictures….. yep count them…. ten pages….... whoo hooo…... and then posted an image taken with my wonderful little Holga of the local coastline and showing a tiny bit of the Seacliff bridge which has got to be one of the most amazing bridges in the country… and we do bridges pretty darned well in this country….... anyway I digress…... so I thought I post another bridge picture…..I figure you all will know were this bridge is…....:) Anyhow a very dear friend…. a man with copious supplies of money but no actual common sense had a sweet little pad right on the foreshore of Lavender Bay and this was the view from his front veranda…...so sweet….... we used to kick back there on the hammock and chill on the view and whatever else it is that aids and abets chillin…..... :) this shot was taken about fifteen years ago and I had totally forgotten about it but from time to time I try and continue what may turn into my lifes work…. digitzing boxes and boxes of analouge capture…. that means film…. from a lifetime spent snapping anything and everything…... the colour in this is the way it scanned and I like it…. it looks like a memory and that is exactly what it is to me…. a memory of a wild and wonderful time…...
Took this image at the local botanical gardens in Coffs Harbour…dont recall what its name was….

Oils on canvas (20×24 inches) original sold to Breda – thank you Breda! Ghosts, ruins and the faith of the Irish…. The hillside view of Kilbaha. On the hill you can see the ruins of the house of the notorious landlord agent, Marcus Keane. Today, there is a caravan on the harbour, close to the boat with a miniature Irish cottage next to it, which is actually a dog kennel, named ‘Panda’s Cottage’. The pink flowers are only found along the coast and line the roads and cliffs all along Loop Head. Please see my painting of Kilbaha Harbour for more information about The Little Ark… / Kilbaha is one of my very special places in county Clare, Ireland. It is also the place where my dear friend, Hannah, is buried. On the hill overlooking the harbour, you can see the ruins of a mansion (Dun Dalhin) which belonged to the notorious landlord agent, Marcus Keane. (circa 1850’s). One day, I had a fascinating chat with a (very, very old) fisherman who was sitting outside the local pub and asked him about the history of the town. He pointed to the ruins and with that inevitable Irish twinkle in his eyes, said not to go there, as it is haunted. Now, according to his tale, the locals were not very fond of old Marcus, a cruel and merciless man, and one night while he was away doing the ‘dirty’, his mansion mysteriously burnt down. It was never rebuilt. Now the ruins stand on the hill, gauntly overlooking the harbour, with only cows and sheep daring to graze around it. He never said who or what was haunting the ruins but maybe it is old Marcus… stomping in frustration and waving a an angry fist at the arsonists who dared to burn his house and the locals with their priest who thwarted his efforts to control them …. who knows??? Read about The Little Ark Thank you to John Quin for sending me his gorgeous photograph of Kilbaha which was used as a reference for this painting. John’s photo’s of county Clare and Ireland are outstanding. /
Just found this from a couple of years ago. It was such a beautiful morning! Manly Harbour, Brisbane, Queensland. No editing at all.
MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER / 190 Comments,125 Favourites, 2956 Views / Sydney is great for sunrises, it quite often receives spectacular sunrises as it greets the sunrises that appear from the east. This shot shows the city skyline as seen from North Sydney CBD on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, in the foreground is Lavender Bay. Technique: HDR , 5 Bracketted images processed with Photomatix Pro with avery slight adjustment (sharpening & contrast) in Capture NX. Equipment: Nikon D300 , Nikon 18-200mm lens No filters or colour adjustment 1) RED SKY AT NIGHT… means that as the sun sets in the west, if it has a red hue or color to it, then the moisture was further west of their location. Thus SAILORS DELIGHT. A beautiful sunset. 2) RED SKY IN MORN…means that as the sunlight from the rising sun passes through moisture, it too will be red. This means that with the rotation of the earth, this will bring this moisture (and possible storm) right on top of them and it is only a few hours away. SO SAILORS TAKE WARN.” / I hope this bit of weather science helps.
